Ascot Media Group (Press Release) – Las Vegas, NV, May 29, 2011 – Born William Johnathan Drayton in Long Island, NY, Flavor Flav is now acknowledged as the greatest hype man ever – inventing the role as a member of the ground-breaking rap group Public Enemy. Known for his unique persona and flamboyant style, Flav has created slangs, sayings and styles that make him one of the most-sampled voices in music, as well as one of the most well-known celebrities in America. His television series have shattered records for viewers of reality television, especially Flavor of Love, a spinoff of The Bachelor. While he spent most of the 1990’s addicted to crack cocaine, he has since cleaned up his life.
Flav signed with publishing mogul Farrah Gray to promote Flavor Flav: The Icon The Memoir that takes readers on a journey into the truth behind his larger-than-life image – revealing all and sparing no one. Flav exposes the tensions within Public Enemy, his bitterness over his treatment by Def Jam Records, his struggles with addiction and the many visits to both rehab and jail, before re-inventing himself in reality television as VH1’s most eligible – and most watched – bachelor.
Flav holds back nothing in sharing his experiences with other hip hop royalty – from Jam Master J to LL Cool J to Run DMC, and lashes out at critics who lambast him as little more than a ‘clown.’
Told with the gritty, compassionate and often-hilarious style that has made him a legend, his memoir is a thrill ride from the heights of stardom to the depths of despair and back again. Fans get to share not only Flav’s unique perspective on music and reality TV, but will learn more about the man himself; an accomplished musician proficient in fifteen instruments, an experienced chef, an avid bowler, and a deeply spiritual human being.
This media magnet attracts fans from around the world in every age group– from his older Public Enemy following in the late 80’s to early 90’s, to his millions of younger fans who know him from his appearances on The Surreal Life, Strange Love and Flavor of Love. In fact, the 2006 season two finale of Flavor of Love grossed 7.5 million viewers – the highest ever in the existence of the VH1 network!
This father of seven openly admits ‘I’ve been down some pretty dark holes – but somehow I always found the strength to climb back out of them.’ In his book, Flav shares not only his struggles but the lessons he learned that changed his life and set him on a new path. Adorned with his signature clock, glasses, hats, and gold-rimmed teeth, Flavor Flav is one of the most recognized faces in America today.
Receiving rave reviews and being featured in magazines is Leonard Szymczak’s latest book, The Roadmap Home (Booksurge – Division of Amazon.com). This insightful book masterfully blends the author’s thirty-five years as a therapist with his own personal challenges faced in life, and results in an inspiring guide that will steer readers through their own spiritual awakening.
In his amazing book, the author has covered the gamut from personal growth and spirituality to guidance for those needing help in their quest for inner peace. Szymczak shows how we can use our ever-present GPS (‘Guiding Power of Spirit’) to light up our road to love and contentment.
The Roadmap Home has been featured in the September issue of Black Tie magazine and reviewed in the November issue of Julien’s Journal, as well as the subject of a personal appearance by the author on Via Times television show in Chicago, and numerous radio interviews extending from California, Michigan, Wisconsin, Montana, Minnesota and Arizona, where the feedback from listeners has been extremely positive.
Szymczak uses personal stories and experiences, examples, exercises, and self-mastery tools to transform pain and problems into opportunities for personal growth by answering questions of who we are and where we are heading; showing how we get there with the help of our ever-present GPS! All aspects of these things guide readers to what we each consider ‘home,’ that includes improved health, relationships, finances, forgiveness and love. Its powerfully compelling messages of hope will help them learn how to feel true joy, exercise free will, delight in the senses, and recognize their talents – all in order to fulfill their dreams and take them to that ‘place’ that feels safe and secure.
A childhood filled with constant turmoil due to his father’s mental illness, domestic violence and parents who constantly pointed the finger of blame, taught Leonard Szymczak that sometimes the greatest gifts come out of our deepest wounds. He believes the gift he received as a young boy was a quest to find ‘home’ – and his journey showed him that ‘home’ is within each of us – we just have to learn how to get there! Anyone reading his book will have the opportunity to learn how to use his guide to help them find their own way home.

Claretta White’s life definitely prepared her for a career in the arts. She was born into a family long active in architecture, music, stage, design and dance and her mother was a couture designer whose clothes were worn by movie stars of her day. Claretta grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and studied dance dramatics, violin and piano, and as a child participated in theater and performing arts. After high school she moved from Tulsa to Los Angeles and appeared in motion pictures where she met her husband – famous film director and producer, Sam White, and their amazing marriage gave them two children and lasted 63 years until her death in 2002.
Claretta’s painting began as a creative outlet while raising her family. Her love of ballet became the subject of much of her work, and her personal experience with this expressive art adds such a sense of realism to her paintings. She studied various painting techniques under the auspices of the late Ruby Usher, Leon Frank, Nicolai Fechin and Sergei Baumgarten. This well-known California Impressionist won over twenty awards in competitive exhibitions around the country and her studies of flowers, landscape and clown portraits express not only her joy in life but the torment of inner sadness.
Claretta White’s work was featured in a series of educational books on painting by Walter T. Foster, himself a well-known artist, and she also wrote two books of her own; ‘How to Paint Dancers’ and ‘How to Paint Still Life’ and anyone purchasing one of her paintings from the website will receive a complimentary copy of the book the study was made from. Claretta’s paintings have consistently held their value and appreciated over time yet still remain very affordable. Their beauty would enhance any surroundings from hotels and restaurants to corporate art, personal collections, and galleries.
