Rethink, Remember, Renew – Nothing Captures The Beauty Of Life Like Images Of Nature

Memphis, TN – When Rebecca Webb Wilson’s parents gave their young daughter a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye years ago, they could not have known where it would lead her. While taking photographs of hawks along the expressway in her hometown of Memphis opened the gates to her passion for wildlife photography, her first job as a PanAm flight attendant fueled her wanderlust.

This avid traveler and accomplished nature photographer’s passions gracefully combine in Well Seasoned: Savoring Life’s Lessons (Inspire on Purpose), her new book that chronicles the seasons of life, illuminated by her unconventional and uplifting philosophy, in a collage of breathtaking photographs and inspirational essays. By pairing carefully crafted words with more than one hundred vibrant, full-color images, Wilson savors the clarity that time and experience make possible for all who journey.

Sprinkled with thoughtful quotations and fragments of poetry, her unique book shares the author’s abundant gratitude for the sudden surprises and unexpected joys revealed in nature’s seasons, and her own passing seasons – offering renewed hope to anyone hesitant about the aging process.

During her many travels, the author climbed and photographed Mount Kilimanjaro, the Swiss Alps part of the Haute Route, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, as well as capturing on film so many other wondrous places. This exquisite collection pays tribute to Rebecca’s deep sense of adventure and desire to capture the moment for all time. For readers, it offers a temporary respite from everyday life – to be immersed in beauty and tranquility and to reflect on their own tender memories. Rebecca says it so well: Rethink. Remember. Renew.

About the author:
After her time with PanAm, followed by a brief stint as a realtor, Rebecca attended law school at the University of Memphis and served several years as an Assistant United States Attorney. She later became involved with the Memphis Zoological Society in its efforts to remodel and revitalize its facility. She founded a youth leadership program in Memphis called Bridge Builders, which to date has had 21,000 participants from surrounding public, private, and parochial schools. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, she serves as a member of its Board of Trust, and also serves on the board of directors of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation.

Named one of Memphis Woman Magazine’s ‘50 Women Who Make a Difference,’ she also received the Legends Award from the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis in 2010. She lives in Memphis with her husband and they share their time between two sons, two daughters, and nine grandchildren.

Angel Faces Retreat – Truly A Soft Place To Fall, A Solid Foundation For Growth

Encinitas, CA – For young girls with severe and permanent disfigurement from burns or other traumatic injuries, the cruelty of the world can be almost unbearable. The stares, name-calling, teasing and cruelty of others create a sort of living hell for this special group of survivors. Lesia Cartelli knows this is true, because she lived through it herself. Her desire to heal from a serious burn injury over 50% of her face and body at the age of nine in a natural gas explosion encouraged her to create Angel Faces® for girls who suffer similar disfiguring burns and other traumatic injuries.

Angel Faces® is a national, not-for-profit organization, headquartered in Encinitas, California, whose mission is to provide healing retreats and ongoing support for adolescent girls and young women with severe and permanent disfigurement from burn/trauma injuries to achieve their optimum potential and develop meaningful relationships for themselves, their families, and their communities.

This year, the retreat for adolescent girls with severe disfigurements will be held in Wolfeboro, NH from June 21-28, with a Level 2 Retreat being added for Leadership and Mentorship training, to include Emotional Intelligence, at Brewster Academy for women ages 19-29. The girls attending this retreat are flown in from cities all around the nation.

During the multi-day intensive retreat, survivors hear first-hand from Cartelli and others who have endured serious traumatic injuries and the long road to recovery. The young girls work closely with licensed therapists to share and explore ways to facilitate emotional healing and meet others with similar struggles. They learn new tools that will help them increase their self-esteem, decrease their depressive symptoms, and have a better quality of life. Most important of all, they are given hope that they can create the life they desire through empowerment.

“The retreat is only one small component,” Cartelli explains. “We see the power in the program when the girls go back home. We receive calls, cards and emails from the parents and medical centers about how confident and content their daughter or patient is since she has returned — she joined a sports or academic team at school or now is going to prom, or interviewing for a first job, ending their social death.”

The unique retreats and aftercare programs focus on the healing process within a holistic framework of mind, heart, and spirit. In addition to art therapy and private, corrective-cosmetic sessions, the program provides licensed therapists to help the girls through their loss and trauma issues, and provides the girls with strategies to handle staring and teasing. The goal of Angel Faces® is to offer a physical, spiritual, and emotional transformation so each girl walks away with a new confidence and a hopeful outlook toward the future with the skills to be excited about their life.

In addition to being a renowned, in-demand speaker and the founder/CEO of Angel Faces®, Lesia Cartelli now adds author to her vast range of talents, having just released her new book, Heart of Fire (Carlyle Publishing). In her authentic open voice, Lesia delivers hope and inspiration to those who are struggling with pain, emotional or physical, and demonstrates how to discover blessings and gifts within any type of challenge. For anyone who has been through hard times and seeks inspiration and hope, this heart-warming, often humorous, book is a must read.

Proven Methods Offer Hope To Lost Or Forgotten Kids That They Can Achieve Their Dream Life

Lawrenceville, GA – Passionate about youth, Manny Scott spends over six months of the year on the road, talking to educators and inspiring young adults to realize their true potential. His new book, Your Next Chapter: How to Turn the Page and Create the Life of Your Dreams, provides the necessary tools to help anyone begin their journey of transformation from a life with no hope to a life filled with success!

Scott applies the principles in his book to those in schools and jails around the nation who have been labeled ‘unreachable’ and ‘unteachable,’ with remarkable results, and this moving testimonial is evidence of how he saves lives: “Mr. Scott, I spent almost 45 minutes to an hour online looking up how to kill myself … I almost ended my life. When you came and you gave that speech, I was crying inside. Because I knew then and still know now that my life has meaning. I am important and I do deserve to live.”

Kids listen because they know Manny Scott has truly “walked the talk.” By age 14 he had dropped out of school and at 17 he had already lived in 26 places. After his best friend was brutally murdered and sensing that the end of his own life was near, he sat on a park bench one day and contemplated the deep despair and anger in his soul. Then a total stranger sat down beside him and connected with him, and through his encouragement Manny was inspired to create a new life for himself with a totally different outcome. That day, he turned the page and began a new chapter in his life. Today, this successful entrepreneur is recognized as one of our nation’s most effective speakers.

Manny’s remarkable story was featured in part in the 2007 hit movie, Freedom Writers. He has energized and inspired over a million leaders, educators, volunteers and students, and easily connects with any audience – from inner-city youth to business executives.

In 2007, Manny Scott founded Ink International, Inc., an educational consulting team that is preventing thousands of suicides, raising student achievement, and improving teacher effectiveness. He is a Ph.D. student and private pilot. Happily married and a doting father of three, Manny resides in Georgia. For more information, please visit: www.mannyscott.com.

By Incorporating Ancestors Into New Book, Author Creates A Lasting Legacy To Her Family

Austin, TX – Discovering unexpected passion springing from your own heritage is one of the most satisfying rewards of genealogical research. Braha: A Tale of Innocence and Intrigue, is the result of Julie Mangano’s foray into her own family tree, a gripping experience spanning continents and generations.

One reviewer writes: “…fascinating….Meticulously researched and beautifully written. I had trouble putting it down.”  The book trailer, scheduled to be released shortly, will   offer a glimpse into this deeply moving story.

Leena Weiss, a German peasant isolated in feudal Russia, makes a risky connection with an army officer that leads to life on the run, pursued by the secret police. A century later, her great-great-granddaughter Linden discovers an old journal that hurtles her into danger, when layers of clues and secrets surface to expose the connection.

Linden’s explorations of the past reveal that she and her family remain pawns in a deadly game that extends beyond borders and crisscrosses the globe. With rich detail and a feel for drama that rivals classic Russian storytelling, Braha: A Tale of Innocence and Intrigue is a thriller, historical novel and finely-drawn portrait of two women with unshakable and unforgettable personal strength.

Julie Mangano’s appreciation for family stories about her grandparents’ journey from Russia to America came to fruition as she envisioned the historical characters and events in this book, and childhood days at her grandparents’ ranch in Escondido, California inspired one setting in the story. Born and raised in Southern California, she now lives in Round Rock, Texas with her husband. She is working on the sequel to Braha.

Growing Up Near The County Jail Makes For Some Unusual Friends In Your Inner Circle

Floral Park, NY – Reminiscing about the “good ‘ol days” can drum up some interesting memories of days gone by, a simpler time when the biggest concern children had was how many minutes they could play outside until Mom and Dad noticed the streetlights were on. After all, that was the universal signal that it was time to hightail it into the house. Author Robert McNally’s hilarious recollection of his childhood memories, in The Memoir of a Boy on His Dangerous Journey trilogy is reminiscent of Huck Finn. Similar to Huck Finn, McNally takes his readers along to experience extraordinary events, which ultimately form lasting bonds and memories.

The trilogy includes two volumes to-date: I Had Jelly on My Nose and A Hole in My Breeches (vol. 1), Sister Superior’s Thumb, the Pope’s Ring and the End of Childhood (vol. 2), and the final book in the trilogy is currently being penned.

I Had Jelly on My Nose and A Hole in My Breeches (vol. 1) highlights McNally’s childhood during WWII and the Great Depression when he grew up near a crematory and a jail. This wide-eyed, young boy’s inner circle included members of his family, inmates of the county jail, and his best friend Rosemary. In his surroundings were gypsies, beggars and hobos. In grade school, he frequently hopped rides on freight cars to explore lands unknown to him and to search for Nazi spies. He discovered a dead infant in the rubble of a fire he set twelve hours earlier.

The second volume of the trilogy, Sister Superior’s Thumb, the Pope’s Ring and the End of Childhood, continues on with McNally’s adventures as he enters adolescence. One day he picked himself up and walked out of school and did not return. Three months later he was registered in a different one. He found himself in trouble with the police, and convinced a couple of runaways to return home, and saved one runaway from being murdered by his runaway friend. He also reveled in his 15 minutes of fame when he captured the first black widow spider in the northeastern US.

“Times were much simpler then and the things we conjured up to entertain ourselves still make me smile,” says McNally. “My hope is that readers find themselves laughing out loud and recall their own childhood shenanigans.”

Mother-Daughter Duo Deliver Inspiration in Very Different, Yet Amazing Ways

The Woodlands, TX – Mother-daughter team Rebecca Webb Wilson and Rebecca Wilson Macsovits, both book authors, tap into their creative sides to deliver inspiration to young and mature alike in their books, Well Seasoned: Savoring Life’s Lessons and Guion the Lion: A Colorful World.

Well Seasoned: Savoring Life’s Lessons (Inspire on Purpose) by Rebecca Webb Wilson, chronicles the seasons of life, illuminated by her unconventional and uplifting philosophy, in a collage of breathtaking photographs and inspirational essays. By pairing carefully crafted words with more than one hundred vibrant, full-color images, Wilson savors the clarity that time and experience make possible for all who journey.
Sprinkled with thoughtful quotations and fragments of poetry, her unique book shares her abundant gratitude for the sudden surprises and unexpected joys revealed in nature’s seasons, and her own passing seasons – offering renewed hope to anyone hesitant about the aging process.

Bright colors, engaging characters and an inspirational theme combine for an instant classic in Guion the Lion: A Colorful World (Inspire On Purpose), by Rebecca Wilson Macsovits. Guion (rhymes with “lion”) is a rainbow-colored lion who stands out in a world of black and white. He wants to find a way to bring back the color, but how? While on his quest, Guion encounters a variety of animals, each struggling with a unique problem. Always kind and friendly, he does his best to help. To his delight, Guion eventually discovers that every time he helps someone, a little much-needed color comes back into the world.

“Teaching our kids acceptance and diversity is key to steering them towards a rich, fulfilling life,” says Rebecca Wilson Macsovits. “I’m so excited that Guion the Lion can be used as a platform to teach this message”

Rebecca Webb Wilson has always felt a passion to see the world and experience all that it offers. Naturally she became a Pan Am stewardess to feed her curiosity. Rebecca has worn many hats, as a realtor, an assistant United States Attorney, and as founder of Bridge Builders, a youth leadership program that has had over 25,000 participants. Her long-time interest in wildlife found a focus when she became involved with the Memphis Zoological Society to totally remodel the zoo. Now, an avid traveler and accomplished nature photographer, Wilson has travelled to some of the world’s most exotic locations and a total of 71 countries. She has hiked Mount Kilimanjaro, the Swiss Alps part of the Haute Route, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and The Milford Track in New Zealand. Her book pays tribute to her deep sense of adventure and desire to capture the moment for all time. For readers, it offers a temporary respite from everyday life – to be immersed in beauty and tranquility and to reflect on their own tender memories. Rebecca says it so well: Rethink. Remember. Renew.

Rebecca Wilson Macsovits approaches life, much like her mother, with a sense of adventure and continually seeks out new people, information, and challenges to keep her invigorated. Although the majority of her career has been spent in marketing, her true creative spirit launched after the birth of her first child and continues to be cultivated by all three of her children. Rebecca’s oldest son, Guion, who has Down syndrome, brings a tremendous amount of joy to his family, and Rebecca regularly observes his siblings depending on him for help. She doesn’t want others to discount his abilities just because he’s different. Rebecca hopes her first book, Guion the Lion, will encourage young people to give and receive help from others who don’t look exactly like them – this is what makes our big world such a welcoming and colorful place.
