Smell The Hydraulic Fluid, Feel The Shake Of The Rotors In Memoir Of Special Operations Unit Member

Parker, CO. There are few of us who have experienced what Special Operations team members have felt during a perilous and secretive mission. David Burnett has and he’s chronicled it in his powerful memoir, Making a Night Stalker.

Burnett opens up the highly secretive world of the Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), the most accomplished and secretive special ops aviation unit on the globe. The importance of teamwork and heroism are driven home to readers in taut prose that brings to life what it is like to be at the knife’s edge, knowing a moment of inattention can bring catastrophe to you and your closest comrades.

His journey starts in a conventional Army unit where he feels unfulfilled. The lack of responsibility drives him to pursue the goal of becoming an MH-47G Chinook helicopter crew chief in the world’s most secretive unit. Despite obstacles and endless training, he’s finally able to set foot on the aircraft. Achieving FMQ (Fully Mission Qualified) crew chief takes additional years of training and deployments, but after achieving the sought after role, he is honorably discharged from the military. Burnett also explores his PTSD, which drove him to alcohol. The beast was finally tamed through taking up writing, he said.

For those whose only experience of war has been through media headlines, Burnett’s book presents a vivid picture of the vaunted Special Operations Aviation unit and the toll it takes on its members.

Author David Burnett was born and raised in Parker, Colorado. After a few semesters of college, he enlisted in the Army in 2008. He was stationed with 563rd ASB as a 15U (Chinook helicopter repairer). After realizing his job in the regular Army was not as fulfilling as he had hoped, he applied for 160th SOAR. He went through countless years of training and deployed with the unit five times before deciding he wasn’t going to reenlist. He put pen to paper after receiving an honorable discharge from the unit and began writing his story.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Book America Desperately Needs Right Now

Reno, NV. It’s the first night of Hanukkah, and all through the house everything is going like clockwork for secret gift-giver, Hanukkah Harvie. But it’s also Christmas Eve, and when Harvie enters a household that celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas, he comes face-to-face with the one and only Santa Claus! When the shocked pair realize that some families appear on each of their lists, the competition is on to prove which holiday reigns supreme. The two engage in a humorous gift-giving frenzy, and in the process, discover that working together is always better than working against each other.

Hanukkah Harvie vs. Santa Claus: The Chrismukkah Kerfuffle is an amusing, heartfelt holiday tale from acclaimed author David Michael Slater, featuring gorgeous illustrations from artist Michelle Simpson. A treat for children (and adults) of all ages, Hanukkah Harvie vs. Santa Claus promotes the powerful messages of tolerance, acceptance and compromise, some-thing — in the wake of Squirrel Hill (where David grew up) — our country needs more than ever.

David Michael Slater is an acclaimed author of over 20 books for children, teens and adults, including the hilarious comic-drama for adults, Fun & Games, a novel about growing up Jewish in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill. His nonfiction work includes 25 Ideas in Education That Just Don’t Work — And How to Fix Them. Slater teaches middle school in Nevada, where he lives with his wife and son. He recently wrote about his personal connection to the synagogue shootings in Squirrel Hill in his AP News article, “A mass murder in Mr. Rogers’ neighborhood.” (Read it here: https://www.apnews.com/15b6a42ab5aa489da8f5a9f035d857ef.)

“Being a new published author, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a PR/media firm. When Trish Stevens reached out and immediately set up an introductory call, I knew I was in great hands. She took the time to walk me through the entire process and then immediately followed up with a number of invaluable resources. I have been so pleased with the quality and number of leads from the initial press-release. Trish and her team are truly a delight to work with-so much so- I’ve renewed my contract with Ascot media”

Ascot has been terrific to work with, and they do get results.
I have used a few different PR firms. Many are a rabbit hole of promises and false hopes. Ascot is the real deal. They did a great job with my first book. They secured numerous high-end endorsements, over 50 reviews, 4 TV interviews and multiple radio and pod-cast interviews. At one point, I had too many interviews! Trish is sincere and they all work hard. I just signed up with two more books with them, and the results are even better. I am happy with their results, and I do recommend them.

Just a short endorsement of Ascot which did a great job of getting two books of mine, Work and Wealth in Scripture and Cleared for Landing: On Leading a Christian Life, some excellent exposure among book reviewers, some television and radio spots, and, in sum, they really do deliver what they promise. I enjoyed the professional and personal exchanges with the staff at Ascot and recommend them as people who indeed do what they say they can and will do.

Ascot Media, notably with Trish and Kimberly, provides a heavy weight one-two punch for promoting authors. They don’t waste time and improved exposure of my book by 500% as well as found interviews as early as the very day I signed a contract with them. In performing essential publicist tasks for me, their work has helped to propel my book, “Love and Terror in the Middle East” to world class status, through mainstream TV, radio interviews, as well as reviews. That has happened also due to their follow-up promotional efforts, etc. during my world author tours (visiting at least 36 US states, Montreal, Canada, and other regions). They are absolutely relentless in their promotional efforts and are very diligent in returning communications (usually that same day and even the same hour). Finally, Ascot Media has several very reasonable packages, and Trish, its owner, stretches her already very flexible business practices to craft a custom-made package for customers and works with them very, very closely to assure her promotional efforts will be very successful. And they always are!!

Ascot Media was my first foray into PR for promoting my book, and I am very happy with the choice! The Ascot Media team delivered on their promises as I was able to get great exposure for my book through numerous radio interviews, blog posts, and reviews. In addition, the team was a pleasure to work with and very responsive to my questions and supportive of my individual needs. I highly recommend Ascot Media!
