Young Author Pays Tribute To A True American Hero In Hal Moore: A Soldier Once…and Always
El Paso, TX – Receiving a prestigious award is always a reason to be proud, but to receive the Gold Medal Book Award from the Military Writers Society of America at age 30 when you have only been writing for six years is extraordinary! Mike Guardia earned this award for his latest book, Hal Moore: A Soldier Once…and Always – a fully illustrated biography of one of our nation’s most respected combat leaders of the 20th century.
Guardia does a superb job of capturing the life and career of this remarkable man who truly was “the real deal!” The exploits of Hal Moore captured the world’s attention in his memoir, We Were Soldiers Once…and Young, and Mel Gibson brought him to life in the box office smash hit, ‘We Were Soldiers.’
With this year marking the 50th anniversary of the Battle of la Drang, the first full-blown battle to take place between U.S. soldiers and the North Vietnamese, we are reminded of the extraordinary combat skills of a man who, while ridiculously outnumbered and nearly overrun, lead his men to victory. It comes as no surprise that this gracious and humble man would astound the world with a compelling display of forgiveness when he returned to Vietnam years later and openly embraced his one-time enemy counterpart.
Until recently, little was known about this American icon beyond the la Drang battle. Mike Guardia impressively changed that in his latest book, Hal Moore: A Soldier Once…and Always. Readers learn of Moore’s heroic battles in the Korean War, his valued service in Occupied Japan, and even his efforts to help rebuild the post-Vietnam Army. Through Guardia’s eloquent words, readers gain insight into not only the heroic deeds of one of the greatest battlefield commanders of our time, but the workings of a man, without bravado or ego, who got the job done with the safety of his men uppermost in his mind.
Today, at age 93, Hal Moore lives a quiet life in Auburn, Alabama. He graciously allowed the author several interviews and granted him full access to his collection of letters, documents, and never-before-published photographs.
Mike Guardia is a Captain in the United States Army Reserve. He served six years on active duty in a variety of leadership and staff positions. He holds a BA and MA in American History from the University of Houston. As an author, his previous works include Shadow Commander and American Guerrilla. He currently lives in Texas. Mike donates a portion of the book sales to one of his favorite charities – the USO.

Johnny Appleseed Did A Lot More Than Sow Apple Seeds On His Journey – He Spread The Word Of God
Bartonsville, PA – There’s more to Johnny Appleseed than meets the eye and Dr. Stewart Bitkoff’s new release, The Appleseed Journal, unveils the true story of this American hero, who very few may know was a spiritual man, and further that he went missing in 1843.
Johnny Appleseed is famously portrayed for his impact on growing the apple industry and expansion of his operation throughout the frontier. After a further look at Appleseed and his contributions, we discover that he was quite a spiritual man who ministered throughout his life’s journey. The Appleseed Journal is based on actual events and delves deep into the era when Appleseed went missing on the way to a convention at the Church of New Jerusalem in Philadelphia. It’s uncertain what happened along the way, but what is certain … he never arrived.
“Johnny Appleseed had a spiritual calling and provided apple seedling, a life staple along the frontier, as part of his work,” says Dr. Bitkoff. “It’s rumored that Appleseed planted a message in Hudson Valley, New York so that it could be harvested by spiritual travelers in our time.”
Author of six published books on spirituality, Stewart Bitkoff, holds a doctorate in education and has served as a faculty member for multiple colleges and universities in the Northeast. Dr. Bitkoff is a spiritual traveler and advocate for Sufi mysticism. Additionally, he specializes in therapeutic recreation, psychiatric rehabilitation and mental health treatment. Dr. Bitkoff is a regular contributor to online media outlets such as: Philadelphia Spirituality Examiner, Wisdom Magazine, New Age Journal, and Mystic Living Today.

Creating sustainable peace has been a century-long goal for the Middle East, specifically Israel and its neighbors in the West Bank and Gaza. For decades, Frank Romano, PhD, has been making strides to support peace through interfaith grassroots efforts in and round the area. Despite war going on around him, he still persists and shares his personal journey in Love and Terror in the Middle East, 4th edition. This latest edition includes a new chapter dedicated to a recent event, when Romano was trapped in the midst of rioting Palestinians, following the killing of a Palestinian youth by Israeli soldiers.
Dr. Romano began his journey from California to France, where he studied philosophy. He then ventured to Casablanca, Morocco on his way to the Middle East where he was called to participate in the interfaith peace movement. He was also seeking the universal religion, perhaps Islam, meaning “peace.” What he found was a distorted version of Islam, not “peace,” and he was wrongly accused by Muslim extremists for being a Zionist spy, due to questions he raised relating to Islam and women. This led to his imprisonment, spiritual awakening and eventual escape.
Through meditation behind this journey, he found truth about religion. This truth serves as the driving force to bring Muslims, Jews and Christians together to celebrate their commonalities, building on a platform of the belief in one God.
Dr. Romano’s personal journey hasn’t been without sacrifices. Friends and fellow activists have been murdered. He’s been attacked by settlers, harassed by Israeli soldiers and arrested by Palestinian police. The ultimate cost was the end of his marriage, as well as another long romantic relationship. Additionally, his role as a father has been impacted due to less time with his children.
Despite his hardships, Dr. Romano still moves forward with his vision for realizing sustainable peace through grassroots efforts. “My vision has always been about creating dialogues and breaking down barriers,” says Dr. Romano. “Organizing interfaith groups is critical to creating a platform for those dialogues to take place.”
Meet Frank J. Romano, PhD. He is a lawyer, author, speaker and professor of law, literature, history and philosophy of law. Dr. Romano has been an advocate for peace and is an expert on the conflict in the Middle East, notably the West Bank, Gaza and Israel.

TIP SHEET
Rosa Syed: “extraordinary….provides a profound insight into the relations of Jews, Muslims, & Christians in the Middle East.…A magnificent book on the current events and the road to peace….”
Mark Russell Bell: “Reading Frank Romano’s memoirs, I was reminded that paths of spiritual discovery involve the intellect in relation to one’s dedicated research and contemplation….I also found myself acknowledging once again that the true ‘holy’ land in the transitory world we call Earth is not limited to any geographical area but is the condition where one recognizes that all people are members of the same vast family.”
“I wrote a book called Counting Down Bob Dylan: His 100 Finest Songs. I was very proud of it and thought, with a successful blog, a platform as the writer for a national magazine, and some persistence, I’d be able to market it well on my own. Yet even though the people who got their hands on the book really enjoyed it, I just couldn’t seem to get any traction on a national or local level in terms of directing people toward the book.
In preparation for release of the second book in the series, Counting Down Bruce Springsteen: His 100 Finest Songs, I contacted Ascot Media Group. First of all, having checked out a few other book publicists, they were by far the most affordable. But they also delivered incredible results. Within weeks I did seven interviews, fielded inquiries for about 40 review copies from all over the country, and am scheduled, once the book comes out, to do more interviews, including several opportunities with Sirius/XM and possible coverage in The New York Times.
That’s all thanks to Ascot Media Group, who put together an outstanding press release, got that press release in just the right hands, and guided me every step of the way through the process. I even used the press release they sent me, targeted some local media myself, and got several more bites that way.
I cannot recommend Trish Stevens and her outstanding staff enough. I even received a free e-mail blast for referring another author to Ascot. And, without hesitation, I will definitely be employing them for future releases. If you need top-notch publicity for your project and don’t want to clobber your bank account to do it, there is really only once choice: Ascot.”
Stopping to smell the roses has taken a back seat for typical on-the-go students, moms, executives, entrepreneurs and the like. In short, societal norms dictate that our days consist of multitasking gymnastics – hardly the setting to foster reflection of any kind. John H.T. Francis, author of Reflections on Fundamental Matters: Not for the Satisfied Mind challenges his readers to do more than simply taking a break from their fast-paced lives. He wants them to think … truly think about what matters and he provides a stimulating starting point for these discussions in his book.
“Throughout my life, I’ve had a keen interest in asking important questions and looking for answers,” explains John. “While I’ve always had a great desire for knowledge, I could hardly ignore the disparity in the evolution of knowledge versus the way our society stands complacent. This book sets to bridge this gap and serves as an introduction to discovering new and perhaps different perspectives.”
