Meryl Streep: On the Couch Offers Intimate Look At Hollywood Icon

The widely popular On the Couch series by Alma Bond, Ph.D., has given readers unique and revealing perspectives into the lives of Marilyn Monroe, Jackie O, Hillary Clinton and Barbara Streisand as seen through the eyes of fictitious New York psychoanalyst Dr. Darcy Dale.

Dr. Bond’s latest, Meryl Streep: On the Couch, takes us inside the life of this Hollywood icon and political activist who’s been nominated for more than 20 Oscars. Her film-ography reads like a greatest hits from the past 40 years, from Kramer v. Kramer to The Devil Wears Prada and the enchanting Mama Mia! ― Streep has seemingly checked every box. But who is she when the cameras aren’t rolling? Readers are about to find out!

When Streep decides to pay Dr. Darcy Dale a visit, it isn’t for treatment. Streep is preparing for her next role, and she’s come to observe and study Manhattan’s most successful psychoanalyst. The two women strike a deal: Streep will have to undergo psychoanalytic treatment herself as part of her research. What follows is a tale that explores the journey and the psyche of a character whose spell never wears off on fans.

Author Alma H. Bond received her Ph.D. from Columbia University and became a highly successful psychoanalyst in private practice for 37 years in New York City. She “retired” to become a full-time writer. She has written more than 26 books, including her On the Couch Series, Camille Claudel, a Novel; The Autobiography of Maria Callas, a Novel; Old Age is a Terminal Illness; I Married Dr. Jekyll and Woke Up Mrs. Hyde; On Becoming a Grandparent; and a children’s book, The Tree That Could Fly. Dr. Bond also wrote the play, Maria, about the life of Maria Callas.

Her late husband, Rudy Bond, was a well-known actor, appearing in many films such as A Streetcar Named Desire, top Broadway shows and in more than 100 TV shows. He also wrote the book I Rode a Streetcar Named Desire. The Bonds have three children, all of whom have published books, and eight grandchildren, none of whom have published books … yet.

Getting To Know The Most Powerful Woman In The World In Hillary Rodham Clinton: On The Couch

Carlisle, PA – The widely popular On the Couch series by Alma Bond, Ph.D. has given us an opportunity to discover the lives of Marilyn Monroe and Jackie O through the eyes of renowned New York psychoanalyst, Dr. Darcy Dale. The fictionalized biographies provided a unique and revealing perspective of their lives. Now, readers are invited to learn about our former First Lady and presidential hopeful in Hillary Rodham Clinton: On the Couch. Dr. Bond captures the details found in other biographies dedicated to the life of Hillary, in a way which provides deep insight into her personality and character. If you read this book, you will feel you understand Mrs. Clinton very well, and you may even learn something about yourself.

In Hillary Clinton: On the Couch, Clinton seeks psychiatric help to deal with her husband’s infidelities. Psychoanalyst Dr. Darcy Dale encourages Hillary to talk about her past – everything from her father ruling with an iron fist, to why she was called “Sister Frigidaire” in high school, to her role as First Lady of Arkansas and subsequently, the First Lady of the United States of America.

Hillary Clinton is funny, a bit sarcastic and very intelligent. Bond provides interesting insights into what Hillary could have been thinking during pinnacle times in her life, and her state of mind from a psychoanalyst’s point of view. While this book is technically fiction, the facts themselves are all true: Only the thoughts and feelings attributed to Mrs. Clinton are fictitious, along with the story of her “analysis.” Dr. Bond’s extensive research into the life of Hillary Clinton, along with her professional knowledge of psychology and her beautiful style of writing, make this biography an enthralling and entertaining read.

“It’s easy to want to get to know the essential Hillary Clinton and want to hear her story,” says Dr. Bond. “After reading pretty much everything ever written on Hillary, and then having written a book in which my alter ego, also a psychoanalyst, carries on 69 fictionalized sessions with Hillary, I think I have a very good idea what and how Hillary thinks. To say Hillary Clinton is an amazing woman is an understatement.”

Alma H. Bond received her Ph.D. from Columbia University, and became a highly successful psychoanalyst in private practice for 37 years in New York City. She “retired” to become a full-time writer. She’s written 23 books and her popular On the Couch has received excellent reviews. Jackie O: On the Couch, the first of Bond’s On the Couch series received a Pinnacle Book Achievement Award. Bond also wrote the play, “Maria,” about the life of Maria Callas. The play was produced off-off Broadway, toured the South and will be produced in London next year.
