New App Immerses Thrill Seekers In Fastest Sport On Ice

Port Orange, Florida ― Winter sports fans who crave the speed and intensity of the bobsleigh can now experience the thrills from the pilot’s seat with the Bobsleigh 360 app for Android and iOS.

Users can experience the precision of the team’s climb into the sleigh, the struggle of the push-off, and mind-bending speeds approaching 90 mph as the bobsleigh races down an Olympic bobsleigh track, banking through 15 to 20 heart-stopping turns.

Bobsleigh 360 app features:

• 360-degree video of actual bobsleigh runs
• User-controlled viewpoint during the run
• Support for 2D and VR viewing
• New runs and tracks added as they are available
Bobsleigh 360 is based on a first-of-its-kind VR training tool developed by Raydon Corporation, a military simulation training company, in Port Orange, Florida. Raydon created the training tool to improve the safety and performance of bobsleigh teams. Bobsleigh 360 gives coaches a 360-degree view of a pilot’s high-speed run, where every millisecond counts. It can be viewed on a tablet or on a VR headset for a fully immersive experience. The Latvian bobsleigh team, silver medal winners at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, has incorporated the tool into their training regimen in preparation for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Raydon has donated the training tool to Latvia and other countries.

Blood in the Desert: Only The Unwavering Power Of Love And Faith Can Overcome Persecution

Dallas, TX ― Religious persecution was an all-too cruel reality for early Christians in 294 A.D. The Roman Empire searched relentlessly for believers, torturing and killing some and selling others into slavery. It was a dark time for Miriam, an orphaned young woman now enslaved by a brutal Roman officer named Quintus. Miriam would endure unthinkable emotional and physical torture before being forced to bear the officer’s child, a heartache made worse when the baby, Philip, is born blind. In a fit of rage, the ruthless Quintus drives mother and child apart, casting them on perilous, separate paths.

C. Douglas Gordon’s debut novel, Blood in the Desert, follows Miriam and Philip as they each drift aimlessly toward their fate. In this portrait of the enduring supernatural power of love and faith in perilous times, the mysterious wolf Lupa appears, leading Miriam to her new destiny, while Philip is taken in by nomadic traders. Their dramatic journeys through the treacherous devotions of early Christendom illuminate the risks and rewards of faith in the years before Emperor Constantine found a powerful ally in Yesua and changed the course of history. Until then, all the things modern Christians take for granted — institutions, buildings, meeting spaces and even the gathered texts that make up the New Testament — were nonexistent for hundreds of years following the death and resurrection of Christ.

Dallas businessman C. Douglas Gordon has translated his organizational and management skills to the task of bringing detail-oriented research to his novels. Inspired by his older brother’s deep faith, Doug honors his memory by exploring the roots of Christianity from its earliest appearances in history and through its years of torment and challenge.

Doug’s series, You Left in Me the Faith, seeks to shed light on the formative period that gave birth to the Church as we know it today. Years of effort have produced an exciting first novel, Blood in the Desert. Doug creates fictional characters whose lives interact with and are impacted by real historical events and figures of the day. Readers can’t help but be amazed that Christianity survived at all. The second novel in the series, The Twelve Coins, is currently in progress.

Debut Story Shares Inspiring Tale Of Baseball’s Impact On Small Iowa Town

Minneapolis, MN ― In the fictional village of Cottage Park, Iowa, time is best measured not by the hands of a clock but by the innings in a baseball game. In this quiet, northwestern Iowa community where businesses are shuttered and economic stability is scarce, two institutions flourish: the Holy Trinity Church – as spectacular as any Roman cathedral – and the local, dusty baseball diamond.

Set within a single baseball season in 1974, Tommy Murray’s debut novel, Fathers, Sons, and the Holy Ghosts of Baseball, follows 14-year-old T.J., along with a band of misbehaving teens and three cantankerous old coaches, as the high school baseball team makes a concerted push for the championship – a summit never yet reached by the team from Holy Trinity High School.

For the coaches, the elusive championship looms large as they enter their final baseball season before retirement. For the players, the road to the finals is a confirmation by fire – a rite of passage they must navigate before facing the realities of adulthood.

Along this entertaining, coming-of-age journey, young and old alike ultimately learn that you must sacrifice before you can gain and sometimes lose before you can win.

Author Tommy Murray is a retired teacher from the Minneapolis Public Schools. He is also the author of the forthcoming novel, The Empty Set. Murray is married to Mary Ann, and they reside in Shoreview, Minnesota. In Fathers, Sons, and the Holy Ghosts of Baseball, Murray pays homage to his uncle, who led his high school team to its first state championship back in 1943. His uncle went on to enlist in the army and lost his life when his tank unit was ambushed in the Philippines in 1945.

In Murray’s world, where his father, uncles and grandfathers shared their legacies of devotion to church, patriotism and baseball, baseball is life and death. It’s much more than a sport. Baseball is a religion.

Love Researcher Explains Neuroscience Behind Valentine’s Day

Fort Lauderdale, FL – The legend states that Valentine was arrested and put to death by Emperor Claudius II. Valentine was defying orders and secretly helping soldiers to marry. But why would Claudius II not want his soldiers to marry?

Here’s where the neuroscience comes in. It turns out that when a man marries, his testosterone drops. So, Claudius’ decree against marriage makes biological sense. If you want an aggressive army that will fight your battles, it’s better to have single, highly testosterone-fortified men.

Think that’s crazy? It turns out that lower testosterone is not the only crazy thing that happens to us when we fall in love.

In a dramatic presentation, Love Biologist Dawn Maslar cuts up a brain to show what love does to us. When we fall in love, this is what can happen to our brain:

• We can lose cognitive ability
• We can lose the ability to accurately judge our partner – that’s why they say ‘love is blind’
• We can lose the ability to feel concern if we detect a problem
• We can experience an increase in self-transcendence – being in love makes us feel less selfish and more connected to the world

In addition:

• Our serotonin (hormone of happiness) can fall to the level of someone with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
• His testosterone drops but hers goes up – making her sexually charged
• This effect is temporary – lasting between 1 and 3 years

Don’t worry, while the craziness is temporary, the love CAN last a lifetime. In fact, Valentine’s Day helps since the following can also kick-in:

• Red hearts, cards and clothes boost his testosterone which can increase the romance
• Giving chocolate on Valentine’s Day can boost dopamine – an important neurotransmitter of long-term love
• Doing new and novel things with a partner can also boost dopamine
• Spending quality time together increases oxytocin – the bonding hormone

Dawn Maslar, MS, is an award-winning author, expert guest speaker, adjunct biology professor, and researcher in the science of love. She is a two-time TEDx speaker and her talk on ‘How Your Brain Falls in Love’ went viral last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyq2Wo4eUDg
