Make ‘Go on a Diet’ Resolutions Obsolete with the Whole Person Integrative Eating Program

Make ‘Go on a Diet’ Resolutions Obsolete with the Whole Person Integrative Eating Program

(This press release may be reprinted in part or entirety by any print or broadcast media outlet, or used by any means of social media sharing.)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

What if you never again need to make a New Year’s resolution to lose weight or “go on a diet” because your most-of-the-time way of eating empowers you to eat and weigh less? Original, pioneering research by holistic nutrition researcher Deborah Kesten, M.P.H., and behavioral scientist Larry Scherwitz, Ph.D.—authors of the award-winning Whole Person Integrative Eating: A Breakthrough Dietary Lifestyle to Treat the Root Causes of Overeating, Over-weight, and Obesity—reveals that replacing the complex reasons you overeat— called “over-eating styles”—with the scientifically sound Whole Person Integrative Eating (WPIE) dietary lifestyle (meaning, WPIE is a way of life; it’s not a traditional diet) may make weight-loss resolutions obsolete.

“Now is the time to ‘reset’ and rethink what and how we eat; to replace traditional dieting with a scientifically sound way of eating that lessens overeating and that leads naturally to weight loss, health and healing,” says Kesten.

Kesten and Scherwitz share a simple yet powerful premise: Identify the reasons you overeat (your overeating styles) and gain weight—with the illuminating self-assessment quiz—then overcome overeating and lose weight by replacing your overeating styles with the antidotes: the elements of the Whole Person Integrative Eating program.

By shedding light on the root causes of overeating, Kesten and Scherwitz present a program that empowers readers with a personalized plan, and in turn new hope and new choices to help them reduce overeating, lose weight and keep it off.

WPIE is not a diet that a person goes on … then off. It is a scientifically sound, dietary life-style designed to be practiced for a lifetime.

“If people follow the revolutionary program outlined in this game-changing, insightful book, it may be the most helpful step they can take toward losing weight and keeping it off,” says bestselling author Kenneth Pelletier, M.D., Ph.D., clinical professor of medicine at University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco.

The authors’ paradigm-shifting message is that food influences not only the physical dimensions of health, but also our emotional, spiritual and social well-being. Their dietary lifestyle can build bridges between the millions who struggle with overeating and weight issues and the medical community. And it can inspire us all to re-envision our relationships with food, eating and weight, so that each time we eat, we are nourished … for life.

Deborah Kesten, M.P.H., is an international nutrition researcher, award-winning author and health journalist, with a specialty in preventing and reversing obesity and heart disease. She is also an experienced, expert speaker and presenter—from TV and podcast interviews to large conferences and small-group workshops.

Kesten served as Nutritionist on Dean Ornish, M.D.’s first clinical trial for reversing heart dis-ease through lifestyle changes, the results of which were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. She was Director of Nutrition at cardiovascular clinics in Eu-rope and on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association, San Francisco.

Kesten has published more than 400 nutrition and health articles. Her first book, Feeding the Body, Nourishing the Soul, received the first-place gold award in the Spirituality category from the Independent Publisher Book Awards. Whole Person Integrative Eating has been honored with the No.1 gold, best-book award in the Health category by Book Excellence Awards and is a No. 1 Amazon best seller. Kesten is a VIP Contributor at Arianna Huffington’s Thrive Global, and is married to behavioral scientist and co-author of Whole Person Integrative Eating, Larry Scherwitz, Ph.D.

Science And Love Hold Hands In New Quasi-Fiction Release: What Love Feels Like

Science And Love Hold Hands In New Quasi-Fiction Release: What Love Feels Like

(This press release may be reprinted in part or entirety by any print or broadcast media outlet, or used by any means of social media sharing)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Love and science may seem like strange bedfellows, but in a new quasi-fiction collaboration by authors Dave Cunningham and C.K. Tyler, the two subjects dance together in a strange kind of harmony. Science turns its focus on love and tries to find a practical answer to a mystical question: What does love feel like?

Luke and Dawn, both in their mid-60’s, met via Match.com and fell in love. Their passionate, storybook romance ended when Luke died of brain cancer. Dawn returned home from the funeral to the shock of hearing Luke’s voice and seeing his face on her computer. His brain had been uploaded into her PC before he died, part of an experiment for which he volunteered – but never told her about.

Luke existed in virtual reality, and researchers asked Dawn to participate in the experiment by becoming wired into the same reality, where she could experience Luke and his magical, “anything is possible” universe with all five senses. As they did in life, the virtual Luke and Dawn explored the meaning of love: Is it something rare and mystical, or just chemical reactions in the brain? In fact, these questions were the focus of the experiment.

What is new love like in one’s golden years? Can a digital copy of the human brain feel love? Can “old dogs” learn new tricks about love? What happens to a person who craves love but can no longer receive it?

These and other questions are explored in a series of real love letters and the storyline of What Love Feels Like: The Dawn of Human 2.0, a tale that’s relatable to lovers of all ages.

Holistic, Science-Backed Program Helps Build a Healthier Relationship with Food, Eating and Weight

Holistic, Science-Backed Program Helps Build a Healthier Relationship with Food, Eating and Weight

(This press release may be reprinted in part or entirety by any print or broadcast media outlet, or used by any means of social media sharing)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Could a dietary lifestyle that nourishes us physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially be the answer to stemming America’s rising tide of overeating and obesity?

Original research points to yes, and in Whole Person Integrative Eating: A Breakthrough Dietary Lifestyle to Treat the Root Causes of Overeating, Overweight, and Obesity, nutrition researcher Deborah Kesten, M.P.H., and behavioral scientist Larry Scherwitz, Ph.D., offer documented proof that by nourishing ourselves multi-dimensionally each time we eat, we can develop deeper, healthier relationships with food and eating that leads to attaining and maintaining weight loss. The authors’ Whole Person Integrative Eating (WPIE) program is not a diet that a person goes on … then off. WPIE is a scientifically sound, dietary lifestyle designed to be practiced for a lifetime.

“If people follow the revolutionary program outlined in this game-changing, insightful book, it may be the most helpful step they can take toward losing weight and keeping it off,” says bestselling author Kenneth Pelletier, M.D., clinical professor of medicine at University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco.

Divided into three parts, Whole Person Integrative Eating begins by describing seven root causes of overeating: Emotional Eating, Food Fretting, Fast Foodism, Sensory Disregard, Task Snacking, Unappetizing Atmosphere and Solo Dining. A Self-Assessment Quiz follows, with 76 questions to help readers identify their unique food choices and eating behaviors that lead to overeating and weight gain. Part Two provides a step-by-step guide to WPIE antidotes for each overeating style. It also explains why the elements of WPIE work and how they can be incorporated into daily life. And Part Three offers over 30 recipes based on the three main criteria of WPIE: fresh, whole and “inverse,” meaning mostly plant-based foods with small or no servings of animal-based foods.

An excerpt from the Foreword of Whole Person Integrative Eating by New York Times best-selling author Dean Ornish, M.D., Clinical Professor of Medicine, University of California:

“[The book] offers an evidence-based alternative to the conventional wisdom about attaining and maintaining weight loss. What’s groundbreaking about Kesten and Scherwitz’s re-search is twofold: They have created a scientifically sound, comprehensive, and integrative program for treating overeating, overweight, and obesity based on these principles. And in addition to what (food choices) and how (eating behaviors) we eat, they have identified sev-en statistically significant root reasons to explain why we overeat: what they call “new normal overeating styles” and eating behaviors that also have a profound influence on how much we eat and weigh.”

Emotional Brain Training – A New Antidote to Pandemic Stress

Emotional Brain Training – A New Antidote to Pandemic Stress

(This press release may be reprinted in part or entirety by any print or broadcast media outlet, or used by any means of social media sharing)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

We urgently need two vaccines, one for COVID-19, and another for the overwhelming stress the pandemic has caused. Bestselling author and health psychologist Dr. Laurel Mellin in her new book, “What’s my number?” One Simple Question that Unlocks Your Brain’s Power for Health, Happiness & Purpose, maps out a simple, scientific way to protect ourselves from the stress overload of our time.

“To be truly safe, we need 2 vaccines; one for COVID and the other for stress for 3 reasons: Stress suppresses immunity, making us susceptible to catching the virus. It is an underlying cause of hypertension, diabetes, and obesity, which increase COVID severity and its stress, resulting in an epidemic of mental health issues,” says Dr. Mellin.

When stress is triggered, harmful chemicals are activated by a ‘stress reactive wire.’ Using simple tools, we can switch off that wire and activate a ‘stress resilient wire’ that spews healing chemicals. “Using this system, stress can be good for us,” says Mellin. “The stress reactive circuits only change when activated and we switch them off.”

Consider the following:

  1. Why is a stress vaccine so important for all Americans to have now? Stress suppresses the effectiveness of the immune system and is a root cause of the co-morbidities that make COVID more lethal. Stress hormones activate unhealthy habits like overeating, drinking, sitting and sleep problems, and stress is the underlying cause of our epidemics of anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
  2. What was the scientific breakthrough that led to EBT? We discovered that the emotional brain has 5 resiliency pathways that mirror the emotional processing res-ponse mothers use to encode resilience in their children. We made techniques that enable anyone to use these 5 simple pathways anytime to release stress.
  3. Why does our nation need to reboot our approach to stress with EBT? Research shows that traditional methods only use 2 of the 5 resiliency pathways, and work well in low stress but fail the test even at pre-COVID levels. Stress levels are more extreme now and our nation is ill-prepared to deal with these overwhelming levels. As a public health effort, we need to reboot for high-intensity stress effectiveness, and there is no better time to do it than right now.
  4. Why does the EBT system make stress good for us? By resetting our brain to become highly stress-effective, we bring out its natural healing powers. It’s only during high-stress times when we’re connected to our feelings that we automatically update the brain with expectations that are in harmony with our changing world. If we are stress-effective, our daily dose of stress strengthens our resilience, which is the foundation of health and happiness and enhances our capacity to live a more purposeful life.

Dr. Laurel Mellin is the founder of Emotional Brain Training (EBT), a neuroscience-based solution to stress. She is a health psychologist and Associate Clinical Professor of Family and Community Medicine and Pediatrics, School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Mellin is a New York Times bestselling author/researcher, speaker and clinical trainer. EBT is the only method that maps the emotional brain; the seat of health, happiness, spirituality, relationships and productivity in a structured way that empowers people to self-direct their own emotional health and well-being.

Stress is overwhelming our nation. We are all in the same situation and need to unlock our brain’s natural powers to process stress back to health, happiness and purpose. New York Times bestselling author and health psychologist Laurel Mellin delivers a unique, proven way to switch off that stress with “What’s my number?” One Simple Question that Unlocks Your Brain’s Power for Health, Happiness & Purpose.

“We are entering the Age of the Emotional Brain, a time when the overwhelming chaos, shrinking resources, gaslighting and gridlock cause so much brain stress, that we have outstripped the thinking brain’s capacity to cope,” Dr. Mellin writes. “We need to reset our approach to play by the rules of the emotional brain. By doing that one thing solutions to life’s challenges appear. We unlock the amazing power of the brain.”

“What’s my number?” offers a profoundly effective way to alter how we process daily life to meet the high-stress demands of our times. Through emotional brain training (EBT), we can use the power of our own emotions to crush cravings and regain control; clear away ineffective beliefs; deal with workplace stress; relieve anxiety, depression and hostility; resolve conflicts in relationships; boost our sense of purpose; and create joy in our lives.

Consider the following:
• Traditional methods for stress reduction were developed 50 to 100 years ago and are no longer relevant to today’s overwhelming stress levels.
• Before 1990, stress was low enough that we could think and do our way out of problems. With far more stress, the emotional brain takes charge. This brain does not change by thoughts or actions, but by emotions, so we need a new system for processing daily life.
• This system is easy, fast and can switch off stress and activate positive emotions in about four minutes.
• Stress is the number one epidemic worldwide and the physiological root cause of common diseases (diabetes, cancer and heart disease) and causes or exacer-bates all emotional, behavioral and relationship problems.
• We have cracked the code on emotions and developed a simple system for pro-cessing emotional stress and switching off stress overload that anyone can use.

“What’s my number?” offers the keys to unlocking the brain’s power to turn off stress so that we can stem the negative cascade of emotions, resolve conflicts, boost our sense of purpose and create more joy in our lives.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Groundbreaking Research Finds Dyslexia And Related Disorders Are Medically Treatable, And Dramatic Improvement Is Possible—Even Partially For Autism/ASD

For more than 50 years, world-renowned clinical researcher Dr. Harold N. Levinson has trained his attention on understanding and treating dyslexia’s hidden origins. He came to view dyslexia as not just a “pure” reading comprehension disorder characterized by reversals, but rather a highly complex syndrome consisting of many and varied symptoms. And he has successfully treated more than 35,000 dyslexics, bringing a much needed depth of understanding, compassion and real help to those failing to cope with the daily challenges presented by this previously misunderstood and often devastating impairment. As a result, bright but dumb-feeling dyslexics—as well as those with related disorders—have been enabled to rapidly feel smarter and smarter.

How did he do it?

His latest book, Feeling Smarter and Smarter—Discovering the Inner-ear Origins and Treatment for Dyslexia/LD, ADD/ADHD and Phobias/Anxiety, explains his groundbreaking findings and his effective treatment process in easy-to-understand language. At the core of his research is his discovery that dyslexia—really its complex syndrome—is caused by one treatable signal-tuning dysfunction within the inner-ear and its supercomputing cerebellum.

In other words, when “dizzy” or scrambled signals adversely affect the functioning of multiple normal brain processors, corresponding difficulties may arise with:

· reading, writing, spelling, math, memory, speech, direction and time
· grammar, concentration/activity-level, balance and coordination
· headaches, nausea, dizziness, ringing ears and motion-sickness
· frustration levels and feeling dumb, ugly, klutzy, phobic and depressed
· impulsivity, cutting class, dropping out of school and substance abuse
· bullying and being bullied as well as anger and social interactions
· becoming emotionally traumatized and scarred dysfunctional adults

Dr. Levinson shares the stories and photos of real patients, young and old, as they reveal both their reading and non-reading symptoms and their rapid, dramatic improvements after using simple and safe inner-ear enhancing medications and nutrients.

Feeling Smarter and Smarter is replete with discoveries and solutions—many that are both surprising and fascinating. For all dyslexics as well as their caring families, teachers and healers, Dr. Levinson’s inspiring work is nothing short of life-changing.

Finally, by similarly treating the coexisting signal-scrambling demon that Dr. Levinson found present in those with major brain processing disorders like Autism or ASD, traumatic brain injury, etc., they too can be helped—not cured. So as Dr. Levinson concludes, “The best is yet to come!”

Love Researcher Explains Neuroscience Behind Valentine’s Day

Fort Lauderdale, FL – The legend states that Valentine was arrested and put to death by Emperor Claudius II. Valentine was defying orders and secretly helping soldiers to marry. But why would Claudius II not want his soldiers to marry?

Here’s where the neuroscience comes in. It turns out that when a man marries, his testosterone drops. So, Claudius’ decree against marriage makes biological sense. If you want an aggressive army that will fight your battles, it’s better to have single, highly testosterone-fortified men.

Think that’s crazy? It turns out that lower testosterone is not the only crazy thing that happens to us when we fall in love.

In a dramatic presentation, Love Biologist Dawn Maslar cuts up a brain to show what love does to us. When we fall in love, this is what can happen to our brain:

• We can lose cognitive ability
• We can lose the ability to accurately judge our partner – that’s why they say ‘love is blind’
• We can lose the ability to feel concern if we detect a problem
• We can experience an increase in self-transcendence – being in love makes us feel less selfish and more connected to the world

In addition:

• Our serotonin (hormone of happiness) can fall to the level of someone with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
• His testosterone drops but hers goes up – making her sexually charged
• This effect is temporary – lasting between 1 and 3 years

Don’t worry, while the craziness is temporary, the love CAN last a lifetime. In fact, Valentine’s Day helps since the following can also kick-in:

• Red hearts, cards and clothes boost his testosterone which can increase the romance
• Giving chocolate on Valentine’s Day can boost dopamine – an important neurotransmitter of long-term love
• Doing new and novel things with a partner can also boost dopamine
• Spending quality time together increases oxytocin – the bonding hormone
