Living In A Sea Of Addictions: Right Now Enough Is Enough!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Houston, TX – Addiction is an ugly scourge on our society. From celebrities to the guy on the corner with a hot dog stand, we are surrounded by immense cravings for more, more, more. Peter Sacco, noted psychologist and author, has spent most of his adult life delving into what makes people tick. Instead of “more,” he says, we must start saying “enough!” His latest book Right Now Enough Is Enough! – Overcoming Addictions And Bad Habits For Good (Book Locker Publishing) is a practical approach to better mental health and a simple, self-help manual to making the right decisions for a different outcome.

Whether it’s addictions, anger, or constantly choosing the wrong partners –  knowing why we pursue self-destructive behaviors is a crucial step in learning how to change. By digging deep into the addictive mind, Peter developed life-changing tools for breaking bad habits or addictions. Used alone or as a supplement to proven support groups such as AA and NA, Sacco’s powerful book encourages readers to look within to get to the root of their problems and gain a clearer understanding of changes they need to make.

“Using cognitive behavioral therapy techniques along with the law of intention, this book breaks new ground in combining psychology with spirituality for overcoming addiction,” Sacco says. “Plus, it employs the principles from the law of attraction, teaching individuals how to become what they most want to be in life, as well as showing them how to receive what they want.”

Sacco is also the author of What’s Your Anger Type? − a book that explores the twelve different types of anger and offers powerful insights as to why so many people are addicted to anger. It is an interactive, informative book that deals with anger management problems in a whole new light. Readers will be able to identify their anger types, their triggers, and the best way to handle all situations.

Peter is the author of many popular international books, more than 700 magazine articles, and is the former Editor-in-Chief of Vices: The Magazine for Addictions, Habits and Well-Being. He has received the Award of Excellence in Teaching and lectures at universities in both the USA and Canada. He currently hosts a weekly radio show, “Mental Health Matters” which features celebrities with whom he discusses mental health, relationship and addiction issues. For Lasting, True Love, We All Need To Learn The Lesson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Virginia Beach, Va. – Cynics might scoff at the idea, but Virginia Welch knows what she’s talking about. It is still possible to find the love of your life, the mate God has promised you. But you can expect some bumpy travel along the way.

The Lesson is a romantic comedy based on a true story. The main character, Gina, went off to college and came home with Michael, the cool, rich law student who made her Italian-American family proud. Now Michael has dumped her, her parents are barely speaking to her, and she’s dating a blind chemist twice her age. But those are just her little problems.

Tonight she opened her door to a stranger who followed her home from a meeting. Destiny or idiocy? He seemed like a nice, ordinary guy. Of course, they say the same thing about serial killers. Can a starry-eyed co-ed recast her expectations of the kind of guy who will make her happy? Does God have a sense of humor?

The Lesson is a light, dynamic story deftly portraying a few serious issues as well. Challenging our preconceived attitudes about physical attraction and the “perfect spouse” in a friendly way, backed by a deep and abiding faith, the book is easy to read and hard to forget.

Virginia Hull Welch’s nonfiction book, What to Do When the Blessings Stop – When God Sends Famine is due to be published in summer 2013. Her second novel, Crazy Woman Creek, an inspirational Western romance, was released this month. Her fourth book and second nonfiction, The Hiss from Hell Only Women Hear, Is It Tradition or Is It Truth? will be released late 2013.

Ginny lives with her husband in Virginia Beach where she works as a full-time marketing writer and editor. She attends New Life Providence Church and volunteers at Union Mission Ministries of Norfolk, writing résumés for homeless women to help them find work.

Girl In The Water: A True Story of Sibling Abuse Sheds Light On A Difficult Topic

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Coralville, IA – Similar to the breakout bestseller A Child Called ‘It’ comes, Girl In The Water: A True Story of Sibling Abuse (HCI Books -April/May 2013) a jaw-dropping, riveting memoir that chronicles one girl’s triumph over extreme bullying and torture at the hands of her sister, shining a courageous light on the hidden epidemic of sibling abuse.

When Nancy Kilgore was nine years old, her eleven-year-old sister Sherry led her into the scorching midday sun, tied her to a chair, and taped her eyelids to her eyebrows with electrical tape, leaving Nancy helpless for hours to stare into a blinding blue sky. For years, Sherry physically tortured her younger sister and threatened to kill her if the cruelty was revealed. Each time Nancy walked into her own bedroom she would have to repeat self-deprecating passwords:  “I am ugly and stupid.” “I am ugly, stupid, and no one loves me.” “Please may I come in?”

Girl In The Water details the most shattering examples of sibling abuse, the untold secret in millions of homes. Each year, 19 million children are abused by their siblings and well over 80 million adults have suffered this type of abuse. With vivid imagery and heartbreaking accounts, Kilgore leads readers on a journey into the prison she was born into, where she is confronted with her childhood dreams, family bonds, coming of age in the shadow of terror and the complex after-effects of bullying and sibling abuse that followed her into adulthood. Struggling to piece together her haunted past before it consumed her, Kilgore shares her inspiring metamorphosis and victorious battle from a fragile, shattered survivor to that of an eventual speaker and activist. Girl In The Water is the story of one woman, with phoenix-like power, who came up against all odds and won. Her story will resonate with millions of adult sibling-abuse survivors who have never felt free to tell their stories . . . until now.

With a resources section and informational strategies for parents and adult survivors, Girl In The Water is a healing tool for laypeople and professionals.

Nancy Fox-Kilgore, MS received her Master’s Degree from the University of Oregon and B.A. and Teaching Credentials from the University of California/Sacramento. A frequent speaker and a university continuing education teacher, she specializes in PTSD and various forms of family abuse. She is a faculty member for GAPRA, the Global Alliance for Preventing Relational Aggression, and consults for the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime. She wrote Every Eighteen Seconds and The Source Book for Working with Battered Women, both of which serve as national models for battered women’s shelters, agencies, and university studies, and for continuing education certification for police officers, psychologists, and social workers. Love And Terror In The Middle East Promotes Grassroots Support For Peace

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Houston, TX – President Obama called for it in his recent trip to the Middle East. Pope Francis I prayed for it on Easter Sunday. But in spite of all these powerful voices, peace in the Middle East remains elusive. It may take all the resources the world community can muster, but Frank Romano believes in it with all his heart: he is putting his life on the line.

“Peace will be accomplished with prayer followed by actions,” he says, “not with unfulfilled promises and beautiful words from politicians and prayers from religious leaders.” Love and Terror in the Middle East, 3rd Edition (World Audience Publishers) is a memoir of an expert on the Middle East conflict as well as of a man working in the field, face-to-face with people from every faction, including extremists on both sides.

“I wrote this book to share with a wide audience my belief in the possibility of peace through grassroots activities in Israel and Palestine,” the author explains. “A lot of the Middle East conflict is due to misunderstanding and lack of communication among religious groups, so I want to encourage people to begin organizing in their own communities to help break down those barriers.”

From bomb shelters in Tel Aviv to the Wailing Wall and beyond, Romano has gained an expert’s perspective. “I was recently in Tel Aviv, Israel, when sirens screamed,” says the peace activist. “When we were in the shelter we heard loud explosions.” Palestinian missiles from Gaza had been intercepted and exploded in mid-air by the Israeli defense forces.
His quest has led to his arrest in the Old City, Jerusalem as well as inhalation of tear gas fumes that dropped him to the ground and almost knocked him out at a March 30th peace/freedom demonstration at Qalandia Checkpoint, located between Jerusalem and the West Bank.

In Love And Terror in the Middle East, Romano brings the reader into the larger story and also recounts his personal journey, a dramatic echoing of the regional tensions and heartache. Frank Romano earned a PhD at University of Paris I, Panthéon Sorbonne, and an advanced degree at Golden Gate University, San Francisco. At present, he teaches law, literature, history and philosophy of law at the University of Paris Ouest.

Surrounded By Thunder−The Story Of Unsung Heroes Who Made Space Travel Possible

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Marco Island, FL – From America’s first satellite Explorer I, through Apollo and putting the first man on the moon, aeronautical engineer Darrell Loan had a hand in them all! Surrounded by Thunder: The story of Darrell Loan and the Rocket Men (Inspire on Purpose Publishing), by Tom Williams, tells the true story of this extraordinary man, his family, friends and colleagues, and of a time not to be forgotten in America’s history – a time that has never been surpassed and that truly was and always will be, Surrounded by Thunder.

Only twelve years separated the launch of the Russian satellite Sputnik and Americans landing on the moon but during those golden years of space exploration the most fearless aviators ever climbed aboard the most dangerous creations ever assembled to rocket into space and claim a true pinnacle of human achievement. Information on the mission dates, the astronauts, and many of the unforgettable characters that made up this account of America’s race for space and then to the moon are all factual; however, thanks to the author’s talent for gripping storytelling, this historical narrative reads more like an incredible science-fiction adventure!

Tom Williams has spent many fascinating hours with Darrell Loan, an astute and active 83 year-old (fall and winter) resident of Marco Island, hearing of his exploits and secrets to give readers a factual look at what it took to put Americans into space and on the moon; at the same time paying homage to the brilliant men ‘behind the scenes’ who actually made it all happen!

“It was only twelve years from Sputnik to boots on the moon,” says Williams. “Darrell was one of the top engineers at NASA from the 1950s, when Sputnik was launched and the space race started. He was on the main team and was in the front row when you see the engineers during Apollo 13. He worked side-by-side with Wernher von Braun and Kurt Debus, the German-American rocket scientists. If it hadn’t been for them, we never would have gone to the moon. Those two Germans figured out how to lift one hundred twenty five tons into a hundred mile orbit and fifty tons to the moon.”

While Surrounded by Thunder is a non-fiction narrative of the early years of the American Space Program, the exciting, fast-paced dialogue makes it more like a front seat rocket ride at warp speed. So, climb onboard, strap yourself in, and get ready to ride a true rocket of adventure as the thrill of early space exploration rises above controlled explosions and soars all the way to the mountains on the moon and the Sea of Tranquility!

Tom Williams already has two action-packed novels under his belt, the second of which drew acclaim from New York Times bestselling author Steve Alten, and resulted in interviews on numerous television and radio programs nationwide. Tom is also a highly successful columnist and feature article writer for a series of Scripps newspapers in southwest Florida, and has had many of his articles featured in magazines and publications across the country. A 29-year veteran Master Merchant Marine Officer licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard, Tom lives on Marco Island, FL, with his wife Victoria.

What’s On God’s Sin List For Today? Understanding Biblical Commands In Today’s World

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Belleville, IL – In this timeless book What’s on God’s Sin List for Today (Wipf & Stock Publishing), author Tom Hobson digs deep into scripture in order to answer the question that plagues many Christians today: Which of the Biblical commands are still for today?

Christians get confused about exactly what to do with the commands in the Bible. Do we need to give up pork and shellfish? Is it a sin to eat road-kill or to eat blood sausage? Is it a sin to wear mixed fabric? Is cross-dressing a crime? What about tattoos? What do we do with that command not to boil a kid in its mother’s milk?

And if none of these commands are for Christians today, then which Bible commands are for today?

This book is designed to help you find solid answers to the question, “Which parts of the Bible’s teaching are timeless and universal, and which parts are only for the people to whom the Bible was first written?” We will examine the laws in the Old Testament and the New Testament sin lists, and how they speak to issues such as sex, alcohol and drugs, obscene language and gambling as they existed in the first-century world, as we seek to discover what’s on God’s sin list for us today.

This is a thorough biblical study of sin in the Old and New Testament in their respective historical contexts with an evaluation of their ancient meanings as well as their current relevance today. It is not intended for legalists, or antinomians, but for those who want to deepen their understanding of the conflict between Judeo-Christian ethical norms and pagan practices. To his credit, and at the risk of being politically incorrect, the author corrects the view that we live in a culture that regards the ancient past as if it never knew the ethical issues we face today. That is, of course, wrong and a blatant form of historical revisionism.

Tom Hobson has been a pastor in the Presbyterian Church since 1983. He is currently Chair of the Biblical Studies Department at Morthland College, West Frankfort, Illinois. What’s on God’s Sin List for Today? is his third published book. Tom resides in Belleville, Illinois.
