The Green Beauty Rules: Revolutionizing The Beauty Products Industry To Keep Women Safe

“Finally, a green beauty book written for the glamorous girl. Paige has been a makeup artist for ten years. No one is more qualified to show you how to be glamorous and green. [She] explained to me that just like toxic chemicals in food, toxic chemicals in cosmetics are just as harmful to your body. Paige Padgett shows you exactly how to rid your beauty routine of toxic chemicals without having to make your own cosmetics or settle for substandard beauty products that don’t work. She will empower you to make good choices for you and your family while keeping you gorgeous. With something useful for everyone, The Green Beauty Rules is the green beauty book you’ve been waiting for…” – Jillian Michaels

Los Angeles, CA – Paige Padgett, makeup artist to the stars and most specifically, Jillian Michaels, is revolutionary in the beauty industry and is finally revealing her brand of beauty magic in her first book The Green Beauty Rules: The Essential Guide to Toxic-Free Beauty, Green Glamour and Glowing Skin (HCI Books — $21.95). Filled with tips and tricks to get glamorous, toxic-free make-up looks, this green beauty expert has the 411 on killer toxins and chemicals found in most beauty products. The Green Beauty Rules is a simple, step-by-step beauty detox plan which guides readers on what to try, buy and toss for a healthier and gorgeous lifestyle.

Chapter by chapter Paige Padgett explains why she got started on this green beauty journey, what to look out for, and why to care about the ingredients of your favorite cosmetics. Paige explains “After attending Ken Cook’s ‘Ten Americans’ lecture I was blown away to find that an average of 287 chemicals are found in our bodies. Some of these chemicals were banned 30 years ago. Shockingly enough, some of these chemicals compound in our bodies and are passed down through our parents. Since then I decided I would eliminate toxic chemicals from my cosmetics and teach others how to do it as well.”

Since making the greening shift can be overwhelming, Paige holds the reader’s hand throughout the transition. She stresses to take things one step at a time, figure out what products work best for you, and how to get the most out of certain products that can be used for more than one need.

One of the best takeaways from Padgett’s book is that “green,” “natural” and “organic” do not need to be expensive. Green beauty products have come a long way since she first started and now products are vibrant, smell great, and are as effective (if not more) as popular brands.

Highlights from the book include:

• Debunking the five biggest green beauty myths (Chapter 1 Green Beauty Pioneer)
• Three eco-attitudes and how to flow between them (Chapter 1)
• Paige’s 80/20 beauty diet (Chapter 2 Beauty from the “Outside In”)
• Sample Green Beauty Routine (Chapter 9 Green Beauty Looks)
• The difference between natural, organic, and chemically safe (Chapter 3 Organic, Natural and Naturally Derived)
• How to effectively use the Environmental Working Group Skin Deep Database (Chapter 5 Transition to Clean)
• The 60-Second Save – How to quickly identify chemically safe products (Chapter 6 Shop like a Pro)
• Tools for identifying greenwashing, reading labels and decoding packaging seals and stamps (Chapter 3)
• The three P’s to avoid—perfume, parabens, petrochemicals (Chapter 4 The Nasties)
• Paige’s Top Ten daily use products (Chapter 5)
• A step-by-step guide to greening your beauty routine (Chapter 5)
• A list of the top estrogenic chemicals to watch out for in products (Chapter 4)

About the Author:

Paige Padgett, a leading authority on green beauty, has never been afraid to go against the grain. An irreverent free spirit, she follows her instincts and her heart. At the mere age of 12 she announced to her family that she was no longer eating red meat. Ironically, her half-Native American grandfather was a cattle rancher. It was no surprise then, that when beauty experts said she couldn’t provide safe and eco-friendly makeup artistry and still create beautiful faces, she set out to prove them wrong — and did.

Now considered a leading authority on green beauty, Paige is the Green Beauty Expert for Dasani ECOmmunity Facebook Page, DailyGlow.com, Jillian Michaels Wellness Team, and founded Paigepadgett.com, a green beauty website. In addition, she is often sought out by the press and has been featured in Shape, Elle, GenLux, Tresdope.com, Beautyblitz.com, The Los Angeles Times, Vegetarian Times, Natural Health and Whole Life Times Magazine. Her television, radio, podcasts and live appearances include “Martha Stewart Radio,” “San Diego Live,” “The Jillian Michaels Radio Show,” “Green Is Good,” “The Healthy Voyager” and “The Jillian Michaels Wellness Cruise.”

Having “fun” is serious business at Lionheart Fitness Kids. The program, an award-winning, patented sports enrichment program delivering the FUNdamentals of sports, life lessons and nutrition for kids 2-5 years old, began with just seven children and now has reached more than 50,000 kids since it began in 2008. Lionheart Fitness Kids is currently operating in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County, San Diego, Chicago and Denver and is available to children through schools, corporations and park programs.

Rethink, Remember, Renew – Nothing Captures The Beauty Of Life Like Images Of Nature

Memphis, TN – When Rebecca Webb Wilson’s parents gave their young daughter a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye years ago, they could not have known where it would lead her. While taking photographs of hawks along the expressway in her hometown of Memphis opened the gates to her passion for wildlife photography, her first job as a PanAm flight attendant fueled her wanderlust.

This avid traveler and accomplished nature photographer’s passions gracefully combine in Well Seasoned: Savoring Life’s Lessons (Inspire on Purpose), her new book that chronicles the seasons of life, illuminated by her unconventional and uplifting philosophy, in a collage of breathtaking photographs and inspirational essays. By pairing carefully crafted words with more than one hundred vibrant, full-color images, Wilson savors the clarity that time and experience make possible for all who journey.

Sprinkled with thoughtful quotations and fragments of poetry, her unique book shares the author’s abundant gratitude for the sudden surprises and unexpected joys revealed in nature’s seasons, and her own passing seasons – offering renewed hope to anyone hesitant about the aging process.

During her many travels, the author climbed and photographed Mount Kilimanjaro, the Swiss Alps part of the Haute Route, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, as well as capturing on film so many other wondrous places. This exquisite collection pays tribute to Rebecca’s deep sense of adventure and desire to capture the moment for all time. For readers, it offers a temporary respite from everyday life – to be immersed in beauty and tranquility and to reflect on their own tender memories. Rebecca says it so well: Rethink. Remember. Renew.

About the author:
After her time with PanAm, followed by a brief stint as a realtor, Rebecca attended law school at the University of Memphis and served several years as an Assistant United States Attorney. She later became involved with the Memphis Zoological Society in its efforts to remodel and revitalize its facility. She founded a youth leadership program in Memphis called Bridge Builders, which to date has had 21,000 participants from surrounding public, private, and parochial schools. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, she serves as a member of its Board of Trust, and also serves on the board of directors of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation.

Named one of Memphis Woman Magazine’s ‘50 Women Who Make a Difference,’ she also received the Legends Award from the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis in 2010. She lives in Memphis with her husband and they share their time between two sons, two daughters, and nine grandchildren.

An Opportunity To Rise Above The Ordinary: Remembering Olympus

Dallas, TX – Good news for all those who look around at their ordinary humdrum life: there is more. At the heart of Remembering Olympus (Koehler Books) by Royce Murcherson is the belief that one life is not your only life; love is real and eternal, and we are capable of creating our own reality through the sheer power of mind.

“We humans are capable of accomplishing magical things when we truly understand ourselves,” says author Royce Murcherson. “I wrote Remembering Olympus for people who want to broaden their understanding of the universe, our place in it, and our purpose for being here.”

Part mystery, part magical, Remembering Olympus is a story of ‘life after life,’ tangled destinies, and the creative power of love and jealousy. Aaron Payne is a typical urban professional running away from his impoverished past. Seemingly by coincidence, he meets Miranda Reed, a beautiful gentrified heiress. Though their relationship is awkward, he believes she is the key until unforeseen events throw his life into upheaval.

When his path crosses with an enigmatic publisher, Claire Vinson, they become entangled in a mystery as Aaron begins to remember pieces of another existence that pull him into a maze of shifting time and past lives.

Prophetic in tone, Remembering Olympus is a mystical revelation, peeling back the layers of certainty, challenging perceptions of reality, and asking, “Are humans more than mere mortals?”

Royce Murcherson holds a Ph.D. in English and is currently a professor of English in Dallas, Texas. She has taught American and African-American literature, creative writing, composition, business writing, and visual rhetoric for seventeen years. Her interests include the literary genre of magical realism, Eastern philosophy, and Jungian psychology.

Prior to teaching literature and writing, Royce spent several years in the business world and recently published an instructional book, The Guide to Persuasive Business Writing: A New Model that Gets Results. Royce is also a guest writer on business writing and workplace etiquette for BOSS, a business and office systems support resource at Richland College.

National Enquirer’s Own Columnist, Mike Walker, Pens Yet Another Winner In Out For Blood

Houston, TX – Mike Walker, veteran columnist for the National Enquirer and accomplished author, is the only reporter to have ever written two bestselling books on the same major story! This was accomplished when he penned Nicole Brown Simpson: Private Diary of a Life Interrupted with Faye Resnick which hit the #1 New York Times bestselling spot and, just months later, Private Diary of an OJ Juror, co-written with Michael Knox, which hit the #5 spot.

This highly respected author is now drawing rave reviews for his latest hilarious book, Out for Blood. In true form, Walker’s lead character is Clark, who just happens to be the #1 go-to guy for gossip in Hollywood and who makes a living by revealing everyone’s secrets. But only a handful of people know he’s a vampire. This proves to be a real bonus since he uses his power to get the best scoop on the hottest stars of the day!

Mike, a record-breaking regular on Howard Stern’s top-rated radio show for 16 years, has been dubbed “the Hemingway of gossip” by shock-jock Stern. Walker’s inimitable skill as a storyteller, coupled with his charm and unassuming wit, has made him an all-time favorite on television and radio and a repeat guest on such top TV shows as Nightline, Larry King Live, The O’Reilly Factor, Maury, Nancy Grace, Joan Rivers, A Current Affair, Entertainment Tonight, and Politically Incorrect. (Note: Nancy Grace, in her novel The Eleventh Victim, featured “Mike Walker of Snoop Magazine.”)

Mike hosted the nationally syndicated ‘Mike Walker Show’ on the Westwood One Network (CBS) for years that was heard on 165 stations nationwide and 24 BBC affiliates and independent stations throughout Great Britain. He was also co-anchor on ‘Geraldo,’ making more appearances than any other guest on that show ever! He then created and hosted the MGM-TV hit series, “National Enquirer TV.” Although best known for his skills as Hollywood’s #1 source of celebrity gossip, Mike Walker is also the highly respected author of several successful books to date, including the novel Malicious Intent.

Walker has lectured on journalism and gossip at such distinguished journalism schools as the University of California at Berkeley and Columbia University. He also scored the prestigious invitation to become a Fellow of Ireland’s legendary Trinity College, Dublin.
Walker and his wife of 40 years live in both Palm Beach, Florida, and in Los Angeles, California. They raised two children, both of whom are grown.

Cali Sky And The Muses Nine: A Memorable And Inspiring Coming-Of-Age Tale

North Palm Beach, FL – Imaginative and mythic, Cali Sky and the Muses Nine is a coming-of-age tale from Joe Ladbroke.

When nine-year-old Cali Sky Braithewaite discovers an acoustic guitar mysteriously left in her bedroom closet, the muses descend, possessing her for the next fifteen years, tantalizing her with visions of a musical ideal.

By 1980 disco was dead, punk had reared its pissed-off head, New Wave had washed ashore, and Cali Sky remained oblivious to it all, thanks to her protective parents. Until she meets Brodie, who knocks on her door one day with a self-assured smile and a Pee Chee folder adorned with the handwritten names of the latest countercultural bands. She teaches him how to play guitar, he introduces her to KROQ-FM and the musical underground spreading all around her parents’ southern California home.

Together they explore the possibilities of their instruments and the limits of friendship as they seek inspiration, rooted in Cali Sky’s beauty-pained visions as well as her discoveries of the unexpected intersections between rock and roll and her parents’ hidden past.

Within a framework of Greek and Roman mythology, Ladbroke spins a classic rock-and-roll fable. His elaborate writing style complements the tone, sometimes adopting the cynical voice of youth against older generations, other times assuming the voice of adulation, paying homage to music history. The result is an unforgettable story of talent, inspiration and heartbreak.

Joe Ladbroke is a literature professor and amateur musician who has lived in Las Vegas, London and Southern California. He currently resides on the east coast of Florida.

Addicted: Tanay Jackson’s New Pop Single Has Fans Raving

Los Angeles, CA – Music lovers, take note: Tanay Jackson is singing and dancing her way into the hearts of millions around the world with her new track, “Addicted.” The single is electrified with energy, and the club beats make it nearly impossible to stay off the dance floor. Tanay’s dance moves are fierce, and once she starts singing, it’s clear she is a “Jackson.”

Tanay knows no boundaries when it comes to success and she spends countless hours in pursuit of her music career. She literally does it all and attacks every opportunity with an entrepreneurial spirit. Whether she is singing, dancing, directing, designing her own clothes for a performance, or managing her two entertainment companies – Tanay’s personal drive for excellence makes this artist one to watch. She doesn’t subscribe to the word “can’t” and in fact, made history by being the only Jackson (besides her Uncle Michael) asked to perform in Romania, which she did so last year.

“I love what I’m doing,” says Tanay. “Music has always kept me grounded. It’s the creative process, the collaboration, the possibilities … and the fans that keep me motivated to do more.”

Tanay Jackson is the niece of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. She knew at an early age that her heart would follow the music industry. First recognized for her natural singing ability in grade school, she went on to write her first song (produced in Japan) by the age of 12. Tanay graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and is CEO and president of Roth Entertainment and Lunar Music. Tanay recently finished a European tour and will be launching her new “Mama Chola” clothing line soon.
