Ultra-Marathoner Inspires Others With Story Of Recovery And Resilience

David Clark has achieved unimaginable success in the ul-tramarathon world, having run more than 100 races, including the Leadville 100-Mile Trail Run and the Hardrock 100. It’s hard to imagine that 13 years ago, this elite athlete weighed more than 320 pounds and struggled with addictions to alcohol and prescription drugs. His story is one of a remarkable transformation — physically, mentally and spiritually.

From barely finishing his first 5k to running 100 miles in less than 18 hours, Clark shatters the notion that the front of the pack is a birthright in his raw, inspirational new release, Broken Open: Mountains, Demons, Treadmills and A Search for Nirvana.

Between the covers of Broken Open, Clark shares his stories of taking running to the ex-treme edges of his physical and spiritual breaking points. Among his many remarkable adven-tures, Clark talks about doing 10 epic events in one year to celebrate his 10th year of sobriety. This mind-bending year of running included completing the Boston Marathon four times in one day, running 343 laps around a high school track and running 48 hours on a treadmill. Readers will feel like they are running alongside him as he navigates his vision quest — all the while hallucinating and breaking from reality in one of the most epic Badwater 135 race experiences ever told.

Clark’s story is unfiltered, honest and pure adrenaline-laden inspiration as he shares his unique brand of Americana and Heavy Metal Buddhism. Broken Open has far more to offer than just miles travelled and mountains climbed. It’s about trying to find a way station of bal-ance between worlds of extremes. It’s about running to create a legacy and develop inner strength. After reading Broken Open, readers will never doubt how strong they can be, how much they can endure, or whether or not they are capable of finding true happiness.

David Clark lives just outside of Boulder, CO., where he is a father of three, an accomplished endurance athlete, a practicing Buddhist and a die-hard New York Rangers fan. He is also the author of the bestselling book Out There: A Story of Ultra Recovery and the host of the WeAreSuperman podcast.

Clark has been featured on CBS, ABC, ESPN, Runners World, Men’s Health and many other national media outlets. He has been sober since 2005 and addresses audiences on a range of topics, including how to become an unstoppable force of happiness; how to move past trauma, grief and loss; why politics is America’s newest addiction; how what we eat fits into our ability to be happy; weight loss; addiction; and American Libertarian Buddhism.

Inspiring Story Captures Heart And Soul Of Young Abe Lincoln

When Abe Lincoln arrived in New Salem, Illinois, he was a young man who could barely sign his own name. At age 21, he admitted to only having one month of formal education, and he was desperate to learn. What happened in New Salem between 1831 and 1837 would both haunt and motivate him throughout the rest of his life.

From author Sam Rawlins comes the inspiring story, Young Lincoln of New Salem, scheduled for release in mid-April 2019. Young Lincoln follows the future president through six pivotal years on the rugged Illinois frontier, where Lincoln went from store clerk to postmaster to captain of militia in the Black Hawk War. And along the way, he entered into a life-altering romance with Ann Rutledge, and that heartbreaking relationship is explored in-depth here.

Rawlins’ quest to share an accurate depiction of a young Abe Lincoln took him to New Salem and the surrounding area. During decades of research, he pored over more than 150 written sources, including countless letters, interviews with first-party individuals and other first-party eyewitness accounts.

The immersive story makes history come alive, giving readers a glimpse of Lincoln as his contemporaries saw him, providing a fresh understanding of this man and his remarkable life.

Sam Rawlins was raised in Oklahoma and Arkansas in the late 1940s and early 1950s. An immediate interest in history became an essential part of who he was, and from the age of 12, Rawlins became inspired by the life of Abraham Lincoln.

In the 1960s, after graduating from the Army Medical Training Center in San Antonio, Texas, Rawlins served as a medic in Southeast Asia. He was able to observe the destructive effects of PTSD in patients, in friends and in himself. These life-changing experiences inspired his first book, A Return to Meadow Wood, which tells the story of a Vietnam veteran who seeks healing from PTSD and closure to painful memories.

During the last 10 years, Rawlins experienced a near-death event and a subsequent faith-inspired episode, both of which not only matured him as a human being, but also strengthened him as a writer, leading to the inspirational quality that often threads its way through his work.

Testimonial for Ascot Media Group from author, Steve Alten

What a wonderful testimonial we received from N.Y. Times Bestselling author, Steve Alten. Had to share. Thank you Steve!

TO: Ascot Media Group

FROM: Steve Alten, NY Times best-selling author of The MEG — the book that became a block-buster movie in 2018 starring Jason Statham.

Ascot’s untiring efforts to get publicity for the book provided great national coverage here in the USA and overseas.

Ascot is way beyond a public relations firm…. They’re a relentless team that not only accompanied me on my journey—but made absolutely sure I crossed the finish line!

I have worked with the Ascot team on and off for at least 12 years now, using them to promote several of my books (see www.stevealten.com). I’ve tried other PR firms with big promises between times, but always returned to Ascot—realizing that they are, without a doubt, the best PR firm out there. Hands down, they are the real-deal!

Don’t hesitate using them. They have a great reputation worldwide with authors, publishers and the media.

Steve Alten, Ed.D.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NY Times Bestselling Author William R. Forstchen Releases 48 Hours – How Would You Prepare For A Major Solar Storm?

As the New York Times bestselling author of the One Second After Series, in William R. Forstchen’s newest book, 48 Hours, the countdown is on. In less than 48 hours, the Earth will be struck by two, back-to-back, catastrophic solar storms. The second is a Coronal Proton Ejection (CPE) that threatens to kill all life on earth. These explosions will also severely damage the world’s electrical/electronic infrastructure. In a preemptive move to avoid permanent damage, global communications are shut down; hospital emergency generators are disconnected; the entire internet, media broadcasting, and cell phone systems are turned off.

A plan is implemented to ensure the survival of at least some people. But if the solar storm, a CPE, does hit, the question is: who will be granted access to government- controlled shelters and who will be left behind to face almost certain death? Each citizen will be asking ‘why is someone else being let into a deep shelter but not my family and me?’ The clock is ticking down with only 48 hours left to make those decisions and to prevent all social order from collapsing into anarchy.

Author William R. Forstchen paints a chillingly realistic picture of the frantic final days before a cataclysmic event in his realistic thriller, 48 Hours.

Forstchen holds a Ph.D. in history from Purdue University, with specializations in military history and the history of technology. He is currently a faculty fellow and professor of history at Montreat College, near Asheville, North Carolina.
