Knox Chase on the Case of the Valentine’s Day Mystery: Read the Book. Audition for the Movie. See it on the Big Screen.
Denver, CO – Reading clubs everywhere – be on alert! Knox Chase is making his way to bookshelves and this super sleuth kid is gaining the admiration of middle school-aged kids everywhere – with the added benefit that the magical nature of these stories helps kids learn how to solve their own problems.
The book, Knox Chase on the Case of the Valentine’s Day Mystery by Adam Lipsius will be released in January, 2016. Additionally, the production is already scheduled for a motion picture in association with Sean Covel (the producer of “Napoleon Dynamite”) and Casting Director Mary Jo Slater (“The Contender” and “Dumb and Dumber”) – and the producers will be holding an online casting contest, providing the opportunity for aspiring kid actors and actresses to be in the movie, maybe even one of the lead characters.
Meet KC Green. KC is a small-town kid with a big-time imagination — and an even bigger secret. He can see the pulp fiction detective he was named for, from the 1930s & 40s Knox Chase on the Case novels. He even talks to him, which gets a little awkward since no one else can see the guy, and because this salty film noir gumshoe lands our hero into all kinds of little kid trouble.
When a mysterious stranger bumps into KC on Valentine’s Day, however, and they mix up envelopes, a thriller lands in KC’s lap and grown-up trouble breaks out all over town. His music teacher gets run over. The school janitor is framed for attempted murder. Even KC and his friends have to fight for their lives.
Unfortunately, the town’s chief detective is a nitwit, his son is a bully and the more KC investigates, the more trouble his dad gets in with his mom for hooking KC on sleuthing in the first place. Their marriage could be in the most trouble of all.
It takes KC’s wits, his invisible partner, his best friend Ben and even the girl he gets so nervous around he can’t speak to her, in order to figure out the Case of the Valentine’s Day Mystery.
“It’s the kind of book you grew up on,” says Adam. “… Where kids face danger, make mistakes and keep fighting to save the day.”
Adam Lipsius attended USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. He is an accomplished author, feature film director, producer and screenwriter. His movie, “16-LOVE” was distributed in 2012 by Warner Bros. Digital, Gravitas Ventures and Entertainment One. He graduated from Dartmouth College where he wrote his first book, The Birth of Dr. Seuss. Solve The Number One Problem With Today’s Young Workforce – The Soft Skills Gap
New Haven, CT – The number one challenge with today’s young talent is a problem hiding in plain sight: the ever-widening “soft skills gap.” Today’s newest young workforce has so much to offer — new technical skills, new ideas, new perspective, new energy. Yet too many of them are held back—and driving the grown-ups crazy—because of their weak soft skills.
Here’s what managers say:
– “They just don’t know how to behave professionally.” – “They arrive late, leave early, dress inappropriately, and spend too much time on social media.” – “They know how to text, but they don’t know how to write a memo.” – “They don’t know what to say and what not to say or how to behave in meetings.” – “They don’t know how to think, learn, or communicate without checking a device.” – “They don’t have enough respect for authority and don’t know the first thing about good citizenship, service, or teamwork.”
Soft skills may be harder to define and measure than hard skills, but they are just as critical. People get hired because of their hard skills but often get fired because of their soft skills.
Managers ask: “Why should it be my problem to teach these soft skills? They should have learned these things from their parents or in school. How can I teach these soft skills when I don’t even remember how I learned them myself?”
Here’s the bad news: Setting a good example or simply telling young workers they need to improve their soft skills isn’t enough. Nor is scolding them or pointing out their failings in an annual review.
Here’s the good news: You can teach the missing basics to today’s young talent.
Now, based on more than twenty years of research, renowned expert on the Millennial workforce Bruce Tulgan offers concrete solutions to help managers teach the missing basics of professionalism, critical thinking, and followership — complete with 92 step-by-step lesson plans designed to be highly flexible and easy to use.
Tulgan’s research and proven approach has shown that the key to teaching young people the missing soft skills lies in breaking those skills down into their component parts and concentrating on one component at a time with the help of a teaching-style manager. Almost all of the exercises can be done in less than an hour within a team meeting or an extended one-on-one. The exercises are easily modified and customized and can be used in many different ways:
– As “take-home” exercises for any individual or group – To guide one-on-one discussions with direct reports – In the classroom as written exercises or in group discussions
Managers—and their young employees—will find themselves returning to their favorite exercises over and over again. Through one exercise at a time, managers will build up the most important soft skills of their new young talent. These critical soft skills can make the difference between mediocre and good, between good and great, and between great and “one of a kind.”

Hal Moore: A Soldier Once…And Always; The Story Of One Of America’s Greatest Heroes
Houston, TX — This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Ia Drang and the start of the Vietnam War. Hal Moore captured our attention when his exploits in the Ia Drang battle were recounted in his memoir We Were Soldiers Once…and Young, and commanded our respect in the memorable Mel Gibson movie, “We Were Soldiers.” Now, his life is covered in full by celebrated author Mike Guardia in Hal Moore: A Soldier Once…and Always (Casemate Publishers).
Drastically outnumbered and nearly overrun, Hal Moore led his men to a surprising victory that claimed the lives of more than 1,200 enemy soldiers. The Battle of Ia Drang pioneered the use of “air mobile infantry”—delivering troops into battle via helicopter—which became a staple of U.S. operations for the remainder of the war.
One of the greatest battlefield commanders of the 20th century, little has been known about Hal Moore’s life and career beyond the Ia Drang battle…until now. In this book, readers will learn of his service in Occupied Japan, his life-and-death struggles in the hilltop battles of the Korean War, and how he helped rebuild the post-Vietnam Army.
Following his tour in Vietnam, he assumed command of the 7th Infantry Division, forward-stationed in South Korea, and in 1971 he took command of the Army Training Center at Fort Ord, California. In this capacity, he oversaw the US Army’s transition from a conscript-based to an all-volunteer force. He retired as a Lieutenant General in 1977.
At this writing, Hal Moore is 93 years-old and living quietly in Auburn, Alabama. He graciously allowed the author to conduct several interviews and granted full access to his collection of letters, documents, and never-before-published photographs.
Mike Guardia is a Captain in the US Army Reserve. He served six years on active duty as an Armor Officer. He holds a BA and MA in American History from the University of Houston. As an author, his previous works include Shadow Commander and American Guerrilla. He currently lives and works in Houston, TX. A portion of the book’s proceeds will go to benefit the USO.

Sex Addiction 101: A Basic Guide to Healing From Sex, Porn, and Love Addiction
By Robert Weiss
“Clearly, this work is intended to enlighten not only the clinical population, but actual sex addicts and those who love them. If you are a therapist, my sincere hope is that you will find something here that helps you to help others, and if you are a sex addict or the partner thereof, my hope is that you will come away with a better understanding of this complicated issue, and also with some useful ideas on how to overcome this very serious addiction.” – David Sack, MD
Deerfield Beach, FL – In Sex Addiction 101: A Basic Guide to Healing from Sex, Porn, and Love Addiction (HCI Books—$14.95) Robert Weiss acknowledges and defines the loosely used term “sex addiction.” With his exensive background in the mental health and addictions field, Robert is able to give his readers real life testimonials of people who have been diagnosed with having a sexual addiction, and people whose sexual addiction is ruining or has already ruined their family, career, or health. All of the material in Weiss’ book is presented tastefully, and suitable for professionals and the general reader, including sex addicts and their loved ones.
Many people believe an addiction to consist only of drugs and alcohol, but Robert acknowledges that addictions can arise in all things done excessively. People suffer from addictions to their cellphone, social sites, gambling/spending, and even love. A lot of people believe the above addictions to be attributed to having some sort of compulsive disorder, but Sex Addiction 101 recounts the importance of recognizing the difference between compulsions and addictions, seeing as many people confuse the two and try to use them interchangeably.
Sex Addiction 101 is broken down into 18 simple chapters, where Robert is detailed in providing clear and simple explanations of all aspects involving sex addiction. The chapters range from topics that address common questions about sex addiction like, What is Sex Addiction,Treating Sex Addiction, and Gay Men and Sex Addiction to subjects that may be harder to address like, Teens and Sex Addiction, Sexual addiction vs. paraphilia vs. sexual offending, and The fusion of stimulant abuse and sexual behavior. Sex addicts are individuals who have lost control over their sexual fantasies and behavior; this book is a primer for understanding this complicated disease.
Highlights from the book include:
Common Signs and Symptoms of Sexual Addiction:
⦁ Obsessive Sexual Fantasy and Preoccupation and Loss of Control ⦁ Related Adverse Consequences ⦁ Tolerance and Escalation ⦁ Withdrawal and Denial
The Cycle of Sexual Addiction
1. Triggers (Shame/Blame/Guilt/Other Strong Emotions) 2. Fantasy 3. Ritualization 4. Sexual Acting Out 5. Numbing 6. Despair (Shame/Anxiety/Depression)
The Downside of Sex Addiction:
⦁ Addiction Hopping/Related addictions ⦁ Significant directly related Negative Life Consequences ⦁ Physical and Mental Health Problems ⦁ Career and Legal Issues ⦁ Relationship Instability and Difficulty Rebuilding Familial Relations

You’re Tearing Us Apart; Twenty Ways We Wreck Our Relationships And Strategies To Repair Them
By Pat Love, Eva Berlander, and Kathleen McFadden Illustrated by Andres Berlander
Houston, TX – Many broken relationships not only can be mended, but magnificent, say the authors of You’re Tearing Us Apart; Twenty Ways We Wreck Our Relationships and Strategies to Repair Them (HCI Books—$12.95), Pat Love, Eva Berlander, and Kathleen McFadden. Readers get a quick and straight to the point look at twenty ways a relationship can be ruined and most importantly how to fix them. Using more than fifty years of combined professional experience and scientific study, they’ve ensured tried-and-true strategies that work.
Experience proves one person can destroy a relationship not two. A broken trust can be caused by just one person pushing the other too far. It can happen either by invading privacy, over criticizing, or even a drunken argument. But the good news is that while one person can indeed break the relationship apart, one person can also be the one to fix it. All it takes is three steps:
Step 1: Recognize the part of your behavior that undermines intimacy Step 2: Replace harmful behaviors with healthy acts of love Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2!
Who has the time and inclination to wade through 200 pages to find a solution to an immediate relational problem? These three authors collaborated to write a narrative where each chapter is broken down into four easy to understand sections. The first illustrates what it’s like to live with someone practicing the relationship-threatening behavior. Then the psychology behind the behavior is explained followed by a concise description as to why the behavior is so threatening to the relationship. Each chapter ends with a variety of strategies to help any couple overcome their problems.
The snack-able chapters found in You’re Tearing Us Apart can be read one by one or completely devoured; either way, readers come out with an independent-study degree in relationship problem-solving. The book teaches the reader how to acknowledge, understand, and make a change to fix the problems in their relationships. The scenarios are easily relatable and give the reader a better understanding of how each problem affects the relationship. The many solutions given at the end of each chapter give readers plenty of options to adapt into their relationships.
In addition, each chapter is introduced with a piece of artwork that mirrors the problems of the chapter. The original artwork is gender neutral as well as the writing. This allows the text to be adapted by any type of couple looking to fix their relationship.
With the techniques found in this book, any couple can learn to move forward while creating happy, healthy relationships.

Katherine: A Woman of Vision: Learning From One Of History’s Most Gifted Spiritual Teachers
Dallas, TX – Diane Pomerance, Ph.D. met renowned spiritual teacher Katherine Hayward through a friend in Los Angeles when she was 28 and Hayward was 79. Their connection was immediate and Dr. Pomerance became her student and ultimately her protégé. The wisdom, spiritual vision and philosophy imparted by Hayward mesmerized Dr. Pomerance and she simply knew that Hayward’s life story was one that needed sharing. Katherine: A Woman of Vision (Polaire Publishing) is set to release in early Fall 2015.
Hayward was born in Wales in 1899 and lived in the UK against the backdrop of World War I and World War II. She had an out-of-body experience where she met “angelic beings” when she was merely 7 years old. The angels advised her to return to her physical body, that she had much work to do on earth. When she awakened she spoke with a full, mature adult voice, and knew the future. Quite amazingly, she made many predictions including the sinking of the Titanic. She also instinctively knew the truth about people and when they were lying, and the outcome of political elections.
Hayward was in further communication with Spirit Beings at the age of 20 for a 6-month period in which she witnessed paranormal activity and psychic phenomena. Even more important, she learned about the purposefulness and significance of Life and Death. Through her psychic abilities, she brought great comfort and solace to many people who had lost loved ones by speaking/communicating with the so-called “dead” and proving to bereaved that life continues after death.
Diane Pomerance, Ph.D. has dedicated her life to animal and environmental welfare and to spiritual research and exploration. Sharing the story of renowned spiritual teacher and mentor Katherine Hayward has been a labor of love. Additionally, she has authored eight books and is best known for her books about animal companionship, specifically the human-animal bond and grief recovery.
